system stopped during flash

I have a D945GTP board.  I have tried the express and iso methods of updating the bios and everytime, it halts at "Flashing image for lan..."  Knowing the danger of ending a bios flash prematurely, I let is sit for over an hour, yet nothing changed.  Eventulaly reset system and tried again.  Same results.  Tried iso method, same results.  I have read the instructions and I am on par with them.

Current version is: nt94510j.86a.4092.

New version is    : nt94510j.86a.4119

Re: system stopped during flash

Hi there,

Try a bios recovery using a formatted USB media.

Instructions for Recovery BIOS Updates

Recovery with Formatted USB Stick

1. Copy the recovery file (*.bio) to a formatted usb disk.

http://downloadcenter.intel.com/T8Clearance.aspx?sType=&agr=Y&ProductID=2064&DwnldID=17290&url=/17290/eng/NT4119P.BIO&PrdMap=&strOSs=101&OSFullName=RedFlag*Linux*Desktop4.1&lang=eng

2. Place the usb disk in the target system.
3. Shut down the system and unplug AC power.
4. Open the chassis and remove the BIOS Configuration Jumper. See the Technical Product Specification for details including the location of this jumper.
5. Power the system on.
6. Wait 2-5 minutes for the update to complete. When the usb drive LED is lit, the system is copying the recovery code into the FLASH device.
7. System will either turn off when the recovery process is completed or it will prompt you to turn off the system.
8. Remove usb disk
9. Replace the BIOS Configuration Jumper.
10. Restart system.

All the best,

Regards,

Aryan

Re: system stopped during flash

FYI - I have the exact same problem doing the exact same update with the exact same board.  BIOS update procedure hangs immediately after the message "Flashing image for lan ..."  The next text message should pop up and say [done] but it never comes back - the board just hangs right here.  I have tried both the bootable ISO CD method and the Revovery method using a Floppy with the .BIO file.  Both result in the same hang.  Current system BIOS is the same as the previous user stated above - 4092.  Thanks.

Re: system stopped during flash

Here's the solution.  It is now posted in the Intel BIOS download page for version 4119.

Warning: For boards that support Intel® Active Management Technology (D945GTP and D945GCZ), you must first update to BIOS version 1788 and then update from 1788 to the newer BIOS version, otherwise the update will fail.

You have to down-rev the BIOS to version 1788, then up-rev to version 4119.  Worked when I tried it.  Links to version 1788 are provided on the download page for version 4119.

Re: system stopped during flash

Hi; I had the same problem exactly and tried to down-flash to 1788 so I could upgrade to 4119 but it wouldn't take. So still stuck at 4092.
