Have clean installed Win7 Ultimate and all necessary drivers on a Lenovo Thinkpad X1 Carbon (i5-3427U, 8GB RAM, 256GB SSD).
Intel Rapid Start Technology does work. However, it just turns off automatically every time the machine has woken up from hybrid sleep or restarted, and I have to turn the IRST back on manually using the IRST Manager.
Would appreciate any ideas as to why this might be happening.
Thanks
Hello,
In order to help you further, can you reply with your Intel Rapid Storage Technology version, and your operating system?
Regards,
Michael
Michael, thank you for your reply.
I am running Win7 Ultimate 64-bit SP1 and Intel Rapid Storage Technology v. 11.7.0.1013

Hello,
Thank you for your response.
Unfortunately the latest version (11.7.0.1013) of the Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology have the problem that you are experiencing. It is a known issue, and we are working to fix it on the next version of the Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology.
In the mean time, for the workaround is to install the previously released version (10.6.0.1022) of the Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology from the following URL:

Michael, thanks a lot for this.
I understand, though, that the previous version does not provide the option for adjusting the timer, i.e. the system will only go to hybrid sleep in 30 minutes. Is that correct?
Kind regards,
Nikolay
Hello,
The option to set the amount of time for your system in hybrid sleep should be in Windows* under power options, and you can change it to the amount of time that works for you.
At this point I recommend using the previously released version of the Intel Rapid Storage Technology for now. There should be a newer version coming out soon that will fix all the issues.

Michael
Hi Michael,
I'm having the exact same problem on my Lenovo X1 Carbon i7 model 3348-39U. If I put my computer to sleep using rapid start and it works fine once, but when it wakes up, rapid start manager says that rapid start is off. I have to manually turn it back on for rapid start to engage again.
Unfortunately your solution does not work for me because I am using Windows 8 Pro 64-bit and rapid storage version 10.6.0.1022 will not install on it with error "your system does not meet the minimum requirements". I have tried all three versions of rapid storage available for Win8 (11.7, 11.6, and 11.5) all with the same result. I have also tried both versions of rapid start (2.1 and 1.0). Do you have any temporary solution? When can I expect a fix?
Please advise.
Hello,
Just to clarify one thing, the Intel Rapid Storage Technology driver will not resolve this issue. Although confusing, the two technologies - Rapid Start and Rapid Storage - are not related. I will respond on the exact issue after some exploration but wanted to make sure you didn't go down the wrong path in the meantime.
Regards,
Josh
Okay and for the latest Intel® Rapid Start Technology version go to the link below:
Hi, I'm running windows 8 64 bit on a lenovo x1 carbon touch laptop, and have the latest IRST driver installed as per your link above. I too am experiencing this issue where it works once, then disables itself in the manager. Do you have any workarounds or potential fixes for this?
Hi Michael, as others have stated here, it is a problem still in Intel Rapid Start Technology Manager 3.0.0.1008 (Latest version) that it is turning itself off after a reboot / sleep/resume instance.
I am experiencing this on two of my laptops running windows 8 and configured for Rapid Start, and while Rapid Start IS working, when the manager is set to ON, the Manager turns itself off as described above.
Is this an error currently known to and acknowledged by Intel? If not, please register this as a bug, as we are many experiencing this.
I, too am interested in a fix for this, or at least an official response. Same issue here as above.
Hello all,
Our software support and engineering group is working to fix this issue, possibly on the next driver version. We cannot provide an estimated time for this to happen, but your feedback for sure is important and will be forwarded to higher levels of support.
Do you mind posting in this forum when the new driver is out? I have a subscription set up for it.
All,
We are testing a short term fix as well. I believe we should be able to replay to this by end of week.
