Any news on this?
Has anyone succeeded in playing live 1080i50 content using MS-DTV-Decoder (e.g. in WMC) yet?
yamcenutzer,
I am using this box nothing but TV and BD/DVD viewing 1080P 50 or 60. I use Ceton InfiniTV4 via W7 WMC to watch all the HD/SD and DVD/BD contents every single day in last 3 months, it has been 99% flawlessly. The only problem I've here is some content/channel will be flickering, 2 to 3 sec, still watchable but just bother me from time to time.
Interesting that you have 1080p TV. Are you sure about that?
I know that 1080p is OK
It's 1080i that's not working.
Thanks anyway.
Update:
I found out that this happens when the following combination is used to process a 1080i50 file (e.g. a TV recording)
Source-file -- MS-DTV-Decoder -- EVR
This is also what WMC does, imo.
If you use a different renderer, e.g. VMR, then it seems ok,
If you use a different decoder, e.g. Lav (with or without QS, or DXVA), you can use any renderer (VMR, EVR, and probably also madVR)
Again, WMC doesn't give us a choice, and WMC can handle this kind of content on any Intel gfx starting from X4500, Clarkdale, Sandy Bridge, just not on IB.
I can only hope the next IB driver drop fixes this.
Just to add to the list of confirmations, I have this issue on a i5-3570K in an Asus P8H77-I MB .
I'm having issues with playback of WTV files recorded in New Zealand. They are HD shows in H.264 format in the WTV container.
I get "tearing" of the picture around any movement on the screen. I also get heavy pixelation at the beginning of playback.
I have the 2761 driver installed.
Geoff.
I can confirm this problem.
I am doing tests Windows Media Center (without additional codecs)
and the following configuration:
CPU: Intel Core i5-3570K (GPU:HD4000)
Mainbord: ASUS P8Z77-M Pro
I am seeing corrupted video content for almost 40 seconds
ONLY with 1080i content (recordings & live-TV)
(german 720p Stations look good)
First I have tested it with:
Windows 8 64bit release preview
Intel® HD Graphics WHQL Driver for Windows 8 64bit Version: 15.28.0.64.2792
Then I did tests with
Windows 7 home premium 64bit
Intel® HD Graphics Driver for Windows 7 64bit Version: 15.26.12.64.2761
It was just the same...![]()
The Intel HD4000 definitly does not work with 1080i content - is this issue in focus on INTELs side ?
Or can it be a problem with the Microsoft CODECs ?
Did anyone tested this already with 3rd-party codecs ?
@freaxx
Yes, I've tested with both LAV and ffdshow as a replacement of the Microsoft DTV decoder. There was no more image corruption in WMC! However, you can no longer use fast forward and rewind, and thumbnails are gone. So that's also a no-go for me.
I'm just hoping a new driver will fix this.

this problem is present since the 1st and 2nd generation and no one care about it from intel![]()
there seems to exist a "Custom Modes/Resolutions feature", that you can activate on some mainboards but not on all mainboards (?):
--> Graphics — Custom Modes Addition feature questions and answers
did someone try that already - to find "special settings" that works with 1080i50 ?
see here as well :
I don't think this has anything to do with the problem discussed here. This 42s corruption is only present on IB processors and NOT on previous ones.
It is also only present when used by the combination of MS-DTV decoder and EVR.
Other decoders/renderers do not have this (specific) problem.
Also, switching off DXVA use helps, but is not an option, IMO.
The latest test drivers for win8 (2849) do not help.
I think I'll forget about IB and stick with SB, that at least works.
Hi All
We have replicated the issue in our lab and are currently working to debug and root cause the issue. I will post and update one we have a solution for the issue.
Hi Robert,
nice to hear ! ![]()
Do you speaking of both Windows 7 and Windows 8 ?
(The Microsoft DXVA-, MS-DTV and Live-TV -decoders are slightly different in Win8 vs. Win7)
Windows 7 and Windows 8.
Hi Robert, great news! We will be eagerly awaiting more info on this issue. The fact that you can replicate the problem makes me confident that it will be solved.
Hi Robert,
nice to hear. Please let us know if you need additional samples or other info.
As a matter of fact, it is not only 1080i50, but also seems to depend on the type/rate of compression. I sometimes have streams that seem to work, but most of them do not.
I have to rephrase that: There are some (very few) cases, where 1080i50 works and does not show this effect, so I think it also has to do with the stream compression parameters or so. I can provide them, if needed.
For those of you having access to astra19.2: I'm talking of servusTV HD. I have seen 'good' streams there.
