Thanks for all the help. I found out what it turned out to be after doing a power supply test and finding out the power supply was defective!!!!!
I have replaced the power supply and the computer is powering on and off like a champ. Thanks.
If you can elaborate a little more on how you arrive at the psu test and how you conducted such a test it would help other members of the community who might encounter such a very unusual problem in the future.
I have a different problem when i start the pc the mother board led standby light come but when i hit the power on button it wont start here are my pc specs
intel i7 2600 3.40ghz,nvidia gtx 550ti,two 4 gb ram of speed 1333mhz, and a 1tb hd and 440w and a intel dh61ww mobo

To really fit your particular problem ignore the heat issue solving (though cleaning the system [if done carefully] rarely causes problems ). Seems the 3.3V line/bus may have gone. That power supply checker seems handy-dandy.
