So, I alread update my bios to vesion 37. This correct just a problem with the lan adapter. because before when I boot teh computer was necessary disable and enable again the adapter to have the internet back. Now my major inssue is about the memory module. Some time when the computer starts the mother board not recognise the memory. I`m using four units of GAIL memory 8Gb, black dragon, 9-9-9-28  2T 1.5V, 1600. I set the configuration on the BIOS to: XMP 1600 profile 1.  Some times the startup fail and the bios forget the memory configurations. Backing to 1333. And when this happens is very dificult to start the computer, is necessary remove the memory a replace again, some times is necessary disconect the power cable and wait for 10 min. And something  very strange, normaly the blue slot is the frist channel, or channel A or zero, depends of the mother board factory, but normaly is the blue, on my mother board if I install a pair os memory modules just on blue slots, the computer don`t start, is necessary set on black slots, funny!!!! So I think intel need improve a litle bit more. The SO still not recognising the 1394 OHCI controller, some one send me the driver but still not working, of course is aneble on the BIOS. Come on intel you guys can make bether!!!!

Same with me. BIOS 0037 seems to also have problems with my memory modules: 4 units of Corsair CML16GX3M4A1600C9 (9-9-9-24, 1.5V 1600).

With 0037 I have already seen once that the system wouldn't boot anymore (stuck with post code 15 and 20). Removing and re-inserting the memory modules resolved the problem.

I have not been able to get this these modules stable with XMP 1600. Memtest86+ will fail after a while. With BIOS 0028 I didn't see these problems.

Yeah, exactly the same happened to me, but with ver. 0035.

Changing the memories to other slots fix the problem for a short time.

If you disconnect the power to your bord and then boot again,

you may discover your bord has the same issue again.

Intel has replaced to me my bord and the replacment had the same behavior.

Intel replaced me the bord again, and by a mistake, I've stuck my USB drive

into my Pc before boot, and the 0035 BIOS file was inside from my earlier (second) bord.

Who thought about it. When my bord has died in the second time, I just removed it

and sent it to Intel. I did not remebered that I didn't clean my USB drive from my 0035 BIOS.

Anyway, my new bord has been updated to 0035 BIOS as well, and stoped booting.

I'm removed batteiry, tries the CMOS botton. Nothing helped.

Then I've tried to move my memory sticks to other slots, and trie about 10 time to do

a recovery to 0035 ver. again (You can't go back to 0028 after updating to 0035).

I've tried that when my bord is not functional and not booting even to the BIOS window.

Somehow, after many many reboots and BIOS recovery attempt, my bord has start

    my Windows.

I've tried to update my BIOS to 0036, but my bord does not update any more to any BIOS.

I've tried that before reading BIOS 0036 has some issues itself.

So now I'm not changing nothing. I don't touch the memories, trying to update BIOS again

or buying Intel motherbord again in my life. Who new that such a simple thing that worked

easily with any other brand for 20 years, will cause me so many headaches and time and money loss.

It's about 3 monthes that my Pc was dead.

Btw, my DZ68BC has a 402 ver. not 401, so this may explain why it took the BIOS eventually.

    Update:

After a month, my second replaced board droped

again intio "Error 20" with the 6th led blinking.

After getting my new MB Asus P8Z77-PRO for one week now,  I'll resume you the problems i had before that i dont have anymore; the list is longer than I tought. Most of the problems were with any bios.

    * Sometimes I had to reboot twice to get passthrough bios splash.
    * It was long in bios flash (around 10 secs) because of all my DD (7) even with the shortest time scan in bios

    * Often my external hd usb 3.0 was starting up by himself in a startup

    * When my hd usb 3.0 was open it wasnt getting through Windows on startup, I had to stand up and force the shutdown to get through Windows.

    * Often I had a balloon tooltip telling me that it can work faster on super fast speed, even if it was already with the latest usb 3.0 driver of course. (I tried a couple to fix usb issue)

    * The speed of usb 3.0 was almost like the 2.0

    * As soon as i had Marvell activated in bios wih HDs connected , ide, ahci or raid... PC was freezing totally at diffrent intervals.

    * Updates of bios was always a hard time and needing luck.

    * 1 time on 4 , Windows was starting  like if it was on IDE (very long) (but was on 2 ssd in raid 0)

    * Burning with my bluray often was stopping in middle with light flashing, wasting DVDs needed to restart

    * Memory wasnt working at 1600 when activated in bios, needed the crap program.

With all the same materials except motherboard, all those problems are completly gone. Now from my usb3.0 hard drive to my raid 0 ssd, transfert speed is all the way over 1gb/sec with a 5gb file; it takes lest than 5 secs.

Bad points on Asus so far are only some of the collection tools (not necessary) causing issue. Without them, pc life seem to be perfect. For my first Intel motherboard, it wasnt a good experience i dont think, ill try again one day and cant suggest it to my friends. For me its only good for people with almost nothing inside that do not do bios update.

If intel can't solve the problems, they should recall this board

@shomaru - Agreed. They SHOULD fix the board but since they seem incapable of it (or the board is incapable of being fixed)....... Worse still is the silence. Intel reps do reply to run of the mill issues on this forum but do not have the courtesy to get stuck into these more difficult issues (possibly the issues are too political for them), or failing that to assure us that they have registered that the issues exist, escalated then suitably, and are working towards a resolution. I went as far as I could with the chat support, but was not in a position to contact Intel support in the UK in working hours, which is where I was guided.

@larrybr - I've had my Gigabyte GA77X-UD5 board installed and running for a week as well. After an initial BIOS update (the I was prepared for) It's been flawless and the only issues I've had are related to HDD corruption caused by one of the more spectacular crashes of the DZ68BC board in its final days, and a blue screen from virtualbox (a VB issue or an audio driver issue - not sure yet). Both of my RAID arrays moved over to the Gigabyte board cleanly, a little spring cleaning of drivers, a re-activation of Windows and Office, and finally I again have a PC that I have confidence in.

The DZ68BC issues that I had unresolved were...

BIOS35 - would not reliably initialise board (with i7-3770 cpu, was ok with test Celeron processor) - about every 3-4 days would require a bios reset to get it working again. Also noted USB incompatibility. Some types of devices would not work on some ports.System stable once successfully booted.

BIOS36 - Board initialisation seemed stable for me at first. but management engine init was intermittent, more likely to start on a warm reset. System stable once successfully booted.

BIOS37 - Would not run with all four of my memory modules installed. ME init issue still present, System unstable when running with i7-3770 CPU. Tried regressing to bios36, but the inability to use 4 memory sticks and the instability remained (although OK with test Celeron CPU installed)

I am a VERY experienced technician (over 27 years in the trade, 35 if you include pre work dabbling with electronics and microprocessors) and have handled all BIOS upgrades and testing on the DZ68BC board etc correctly. But I have to admit defeat to this board!!!!

I've had the board too long to return it for credit so will have to wait for a fix and upgrade my previous badaxe2 based system with a decent cpu or just with my test celery and 8GB of test memory that I have....

    Oh well.........

My biggest complaint about all of this is the lack of acknowledgement of issues by Intel representatives.  I know that unforeseen problems crop up but admit that there is a d**m problem.  It really isn't too much to ask.

    On top of all issues still not fixed, here is another serious issue which is repeatable;

    • Customize the BIOS and save the changes.
    • Reboot and confirm all changes (it should be
      fine)
    • Turnoff the system and while the MB is in Stand-by
Mode, unplug power from any fan, or other device (I know it is not a good
practice but in real like it does happen)
    • Now shut down the power, (discharge all Caps)
      and turn the system on.
    • Go the BIOS and you will see it reset to default
and all your custom settings are gone.

BTW: while this is repeatable only if you follow the above but it is also doing the same **** randomly without
following any of the above. Most of the people will not notice this because they all uses “default setup” anyway. It is giving us a headache to check every time we boot these “piece of *****”.

You are right, the 0037 is even
more disaster. Now Management Engine and Video drivers also will not work. I have
opened up a case two weeks ago and the only response I got so far is “go back
to BIOS 0035”. Sickening part is even though they know that 0037 caused more problems,
yet they still have it on their download site as the “recent update”

Well they kept the 0035 up for 3 months when most of us were RMAing our boards.

It seems that Intel updated the MRC controller algorithm in the BIOS for hardware revision 403 of the DZ68BC (see doc PCN 111429 - 01).

It seems that this algorithm will tune the timing settings of the memory controller depending on the specific board and used DIMMs. This algorithm was probably extended to support Ivy-bridge CPUs but is not 100% reliable.

This can also explain why swapping DIMMs will resolve memory problems. This algorithm sees then a changed system and will re-tune itself instead of using incorrectly cached values.

Note: hardware revision DZ68BC G30742-403 also added additional resistors for DIMM Voltage reference. It seems that these 4 resistors were important enough to create a new hardware revision of the board...

So guys, I`m very happy becouse is the last time I come over here. I just buy a asus Sabertooth Z77, this board is much better than the dz68bc. The bios works very well. Are you guys curious about what i did with the previous intel board ( the infamous dz68bc)???? I use my hammer and break the board in very small pieces, no way to some one get some parts, is almost dust. Good by intel see you in the hell.

    Agree 120%.

I tested BIOS rev.037 and it gives the same poppin´ blue screens as 035.

Good thing is I have stable Asus board now. Sad thing is I wasted 206 Euro in DZ68BC which has 0 Euro resale value. It looks that I will use the hammer too

Good to heard ! ! wanted to do the same but Intel asked 65$ do give back a brand new. So i gave to a friend that will pay this amount. Biggest shame would have be to put another token in this crap.

    UPDATE

I have done some work with my test bench regarding DZ68BC:

With following BIOS 035,036 and 037.

All stability / configuration problems seems to be RAM related.

I ran several tests with different configs.

Stability issues occured only with higher speeds than 1333MHZ. I had no problems to raise CPU clocks. If I loaded XMP profiles and ran

    memory demanding tests -> BSOD/errors.

Intel Management Engine seems to be out of order as well.

    P.S.

Memory modules run fine on a another setup.
