I have a RAID5 array of 4 HDD on an ICH10R motherboards. For some reason, 3 of the drives were 1TB, one was 1.5TB (all I had available when I built it). So yesterday, after getting hold of an extra 1TB, I swapped the 1.5TB with the 1TB drive. After rebooting, the Raid 5 identified the new dirve, and started rebuilding. However, it is still marking the old 1.5TB as missing.
Two questions: is that a problem, and if so, how can I tell the controller that the old drive is gone for good (assuming I have to wait for the rebuild to complete...) ?
