"widiapp has stopped working" message at startup but still working

Hi,

sometimes, when i start widi, the app crashes and displays an error message. (picture attached.) however, the connection does get established and remains stable (its still connected as i am typing this). if i click on the message box though it'll quit and i'll have to restart. It doesn't give an error the second time i start it.

any idea what this error is? It doesn't really seem to be an error since the widi is working perfectly in the background.

system: VAIO vpcsc1afm, windows 7, 3.1.29 version of widi, 15.xx wifi driver, netgear ptv2000widi.JPG

    Thank you for your post.

From the issue description it appears to be almost a cosmetic error, since the application works as long as you do not click to close the program.

If you have always had the issue since you got the laptop then it could be that the system may just have been loaded with a software error. if it started after some time of using the system then it would be more likely that a software change (like a antivirus install or Windows* update) may be conflicting.

    What you can try:

    1. Check if your firewall (Windows* and third party) is blocking the application, it should allow WiDiApp" and "Wireless PAN” in both public and private setup.
    2. To start the application, right-click it and select “Run as administrator”
    3. Try using the Intel® WiDi Widget to start the WiDi software. (found at the link from the next point)
    4. Uninstall and reinstall the Intel® Wireless Display (can download it from here: http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wtech/iwd/sb/CS-031109.htm )

    I hope this helps
