Hi, regarding the compatibility of the GMA 3600 series hardware in Linux I'd like to know if there will be a release of the source code or a source closed proprietary driver (like MeeGo/Tizen) or Linux users should be advised not to buy Intel hardware in the future.
I am waiting for Intel to release the Linux driver for the GMA 3600.
It looks like there will be no Linux support for GMA 3600. Rumor has it, the Cedar Trail chip is phased out:

Meanwhile, there is another interesting rumor about yet another famous market player loosing a huge chip order for no Linux support:

But not yet, not this year anyway, Valley View is unlikely to be ready before 2013. So there is a good 6 months left yet for Intel to keep burying their heads in the sand regarding Cedar Trail Linux support.

I don't think Asus would release a Linux notebook with crippled Cedar Trail CPUs, so it may pressure Intel to supply a Linux driver, or even develop a drive in-house. Let us pray.

Didn't work for me on a fresh install of Ubuntu 12.04 on an ASRock AD2700-ITX (garbled screen after installation), maybe other boards will have better luck.

Exactly the same for Intel DN2800MT board.
It's the second time I faced this issue. Last time I could add an external graphic card but this time I bought a fanlass mini PC and I can't.
Again I was think that choosing Intel was sign of broader support between several OS/distributions. And I am wrong.
This chip has been included in many laptops and so on so I was almost sure it would be no pb and that Intel learnt from the past.
Guys it couldn't be so difficult for you to produce linux drivers? Why not doing them for your customers? You plan to provide built in solutions which ends up in servers etc.. so linux is one choice that couldn't be avoided.
It's really a shame. Besides you don't even communicate and answer customers who have spend money and have trust your brand.
Taking into consideration no Intel representative replied in this thread I get the impression that the only way to make them respond is to spread a word e.g over the Facebook on that (sharing this thread).
This is not a problem of lack of Linux support - this is a complete ignorance of customer voice!! It's really not that hard to state: "get lost you Linux loosers, we don't care for Linux support so no point in waiting for it, look for other HW if you want to run Linux on it".
If you do so please let us know so we can re-share and spread the info so others don't get screw like us.
