My PC working on win7 32 bit, has currently a raid array of 2 HDD, made using intel rapid storage utility.
how do i break up this connection and use the hard drives normally and regularly?
i've tried installing windows again, but still no effect.
note: this is a new pc so i dont mind formatting and installing OS again.
Press Ctrl-i during POST to launch the Oprion ROM user interface, and select "Reset Disk to Non-RAID". This will remove the RAID metadata on the drive and keep the partition table and file system. If you want to clear the data, select "Delete RAID Volume", which will clear the RAID metadata together with partition table and file system.
I didn't mention before, it is a raid 0 array.
OK for RAID 0 I suggest you delete the volume and re-install OS.
Thank you.
I am in a similar situation- I need to replace drive C- comprised of 2 HDDs in Raid 0- one of the drives is failing- replacing with 2 new drives- need to break the RAID of these drives to remove data- so data is secure when returning HDDs to Seagate- however I also have a 'D' drive comprised of 2 other HDDs also in RAID (in good working order)- but I do not want to lose any data on the D drive- how do I break the raid and make data on the 2 drives in RAID that make up the C drive impossible to read whilst keeping the data on the 2 HDDs that make up Drive 'D' intact? Is it a case of simply unplugging the 2 HDDs that make up the 'D' drive before I break the RAID for the C drive and if so when I replace the 2 failing HDDs that make up the C drive with 2 new ones and recreate the RAID and reinstall the OS etc- will the D drive's data still be intact after plugging them back in? Thank you for your reply
Let me clarify - you have two separate arrays, each includes two drives right? If so removing or replacing the drives in one array won't impact data on the another array.
Is there a way to remove a drive from a RAID 0 without having to format and reinstall the OS?
