The E5-1410 specs are sketchy. Could someone please clarify whats the principal difference between E5-1410 and E5-2420 (except obvious thread numbers and cache size).
Does it support Integrated IO? Is the cache same fast as E5-2400 ?
What will I miss If I buy E5-1400 series instead of E5-2400 ?
This Intel® Xeon® processor E5-1410 does support Integrated I/O.
QPI doesn't apply since it's only used between processors and this processor only works in single processor systems.
The Intel® Xeon® processor E5-1410 is currently available only in Original Equipment Manufacturer (OEM) version; this is the reason that we do not handle much information about it.
If you need detailed information about this processor, I would suggest contacting the system manufacturer so they can provide you detailed information on this OEM processor.
Please check the following website for a comparison chart between both processors :
The cache architecture is the same since both processors are designed under the same architecture (32 nm).
Performance wise, the i5-2420 will process more tasks at the same time since it has more cores, but it has a slower clock speed, while the i5-1410 has a faster clock speed, but it can process less tasks at the same time.
So basically it will depend on the usage that you will give to the processor, if you will be running many tasks at the same time, then you need to think about more cores.
