I am trying to connect my PC (windows 7) with an HDMI cable to my TV and/or receiver. I borrowed a Monster brand cable and it works perfectly, so I purchased a Mediabridge cable but when I try to connect that one it doesn't work. When I plug the monster cable it, the computer recognises it with the usual noise, but when I plug in the mediabridge cable the computer has no response.
Does anyone have any ideas? Do I have a defective cable or do I need to install some drivers?

This could be either due to a low quality cable or a defective one. You should test replacing the cable and test again, otherwise use the better quality cable that you certified that works.
