Desktop Utilities started hanging with circling-dots-of-death on my DZ77GA-70K desktop board. So, I uninstalled the software, rebooted and tried to reinstall the software - but, I received this error message:
Intel Desktop Utilities can only be installed on a computer based on an Intel motherboard. Install will now abort.
Can someone suggest how to solve this problem?
- explicit running setup.exe as administrator?
- uninstalling Intel SMBus also?
Wow... I figured out why Intel Desktop Utilities would not install on my DZ77GA-70K desktop board: UEFI boot was selected in the BIOS.
The ramifications of that bug - on so many levels - is scary.
Smart to figure that out.
I have EUFI boot enabled on my DZ68BC board and not seen that problem. As I have installed Windows 8 CP with this option I cannot disable it as Win8 won't boot anymore. As a bios reset to default values will disable UEFI boot on the DZ68BC it even tricked me the last time I did a BIOS upgrade and my system became non-bootable, re-enabling EUFI boot did the trick :-).
vbaderks,
Yes - that's my point.
IMO, the old fashioned BIOS can't go away fast enough. But, Intel is struggling getting UEFI underway.
