NOTE: Intel Desktop Utility reports RAM-Speed with 1419 MHz but according to the BIOS its running with 1066 MHz.
The RAM-Modules are the Samsung one which Intel lists in his Hardware Compatibility Guide.
I have Windows 7 x64. PSU ist Enermax 800 Watt, graphiccard is a GTS 8600 or a HD 4750 (I changed both to ensure its not a GPU-Issue).
Memtest86+ runs 4 days without problem.
The system randomly freezes once in the week even if the PC does nothing - just running. "Freeze" means that I can't mouse the mouse or press any keys I have to hard-reset the system. Temperature is normal, processor never goes over 63 °C even if doing a 2 simultanous winrars with 10 GB.
I increase the RAm voltage from 1,5 to 1,6 as I read in some postings but this doesn't help.
What can I do to stop the "freezing"?
Greetings
Stefan
I suspect the freezing is not an Intel hardware issue, but a Microsoft Windows issue.
See the Microsoft hotfix link below:
http://support.microsoft.com/kb/2664888/en-us
I've experienced the same types of freezes. The issue seems to be conflicts with programs that utilize the Windows Filtering Platform (WFP). In my case, my network security software, ESET Smart Security 5, is the suspect. I was able to eliminate the freezes for now by loading the hotfix and configuring all my network security settings to default.
The link below is to the ESET community support forum and addresses the issue related to ESET.

To identify the cause of the freezing, investigate which of your programs utilize WFP and check your programs settings for possible conflicts.

Thanks, I will check that and apply the hotfix.
Is there a utility which helps me to investigate which program uses WFP?
Thanks
Stefan
Not that I know of. You may be able to determine which programs are using the WFP by reviewing the system, application, startup, etc..., log files in event viewer. Also, contact the manufacturers of your programs and let them know your issues and ask if their programs use WFP. Also, check their support forums and start a thread.
There is a windows diagnostic tool called windows performance monitor where you can set up monitoring and logging, but I'm not that familiar with the tool yet to make any recommendations. Check it out on the Microsoft technical support websites.

Last week I applied the hotfix but today the system still freezes. The hotfix doesn't solve the problem or the problem has nothing to do with the hotfix.
I applied the hotfix and it didn't solve my freezing issue. I then set my Internet security program, ESET Smart Security 5, to default settings and the system hasn't frozen since. ESET SS 5 uses the WFP feature of Win7. I assume the hotifx fixes something, but it didn't fix my issue. The hotfix is still subject to further testing and revision per the Microsoft website. I think the WFP conflict was the cause of freezing on my system.
Have you identified any programs that use the WFP on your system? If so, disable or delete to see if you still get random freezes. Also, it may be helpful to remove and reinstall the programs that use WFP after the hotfix was installed.
I think this issue is a Microsoft Windows issue and not an Intel hardware issue.

You should also test your memory to eliminate that variable from the equation. I recommend you run Memtest86+ to check your memory modules.
If your memory passes, then it's likely the WFP issue mentioned above.

Hello,
today the system freezes again. MS mentioned in the WFP-article that if the system freeze it's still pingable. I tried to ping my freezed system from another PC in the network (firewall is off on both PCs) and didn't get an answer.
I think my problem is not the WFP-problem.
Memtest 86+ runs the whole weekend without problems.
What else could I do?
Stefan
My freezing appeared to be caused by Win 7 WFP and my Internet security software, ESET Smart Security 5. I resolved the issue by returning the ESET to default settings. I also installed the hotfix. I haven't had a system freeze since, but I don't think that's due to the hotfix.
I suspect your freezes are related to the WFP issue. Try removing any programs that you suspect are causing the freeze one by one to isolate the culprit.
Alternatively, you could get another hard drive and do another clean install of the os and install programs one at a time to determine when the freeze issue starts.
Good luck with your troubleshooting.
Regards
