Hi everybody,
I am in process of building a new PC and decided to buy Intel® Desktop Board DZ68DB due to the 3-year limited Warraty given by Intel ( I already purchased this Motherboard over 4 months ago and my intent was to buy all my Hardware / Components over Time so I could build my New PC in Jan/ 2012 )
While googling around trying to know more about this Motherboard, I found the following Memory System Issue on Intel Support Website :
Troubleshooting system memory issues >>> Compatibility with low-profile DIMMs :
=> http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/sb/CS-031783.htm
Never did I think that there was any kind of Compatibility issue between Intel® Desktop Board DZ68DB, that also applies to ALL Intel® Desktop Motheboards, and low-profile Memories .
After reading a great deal of positive Reviews on New Egg about Kingston KVR1333D3N9/4G, I must confess that I was really inclined to pick such RAMs for my new PC Build; but, by taking into acccount the aforementioned Incompatibility Issue with low-profile Memories, I decided to ask Kingston for Support:
'' " [...] Could you please tell me if there is any compatibility issue between Intel® Desktop Board DZ68DB and Kingston KVR1333D3N9/4G, including low-profile ones ?

Much to my regret, they got back to me saying that Kingston KVR1333D3N9/4G was Not Compatible and gave a list of supposedly compatible Modules :
=> http://www.ec.kingston.com/ecom/configurator_new/modelsinfo.asp?SysID=71888&mfr=Intel&
The fact is the only Difference between Kingston KVR1333D3N9/4G & Kingston KVR1333D3N9H/4G is the Price, the latter costs here 3 X more, and the PCB Height :

Also, Kingston KVR1333D3N9H/4G is quite impossible to find here where I live... and, unfortunately, I don´t have much leeway available before starting building my new PC.
One of these days, I happened to find an Intel ´s Stand at a Computer Shopping here and decided to ask two (2) Intel reps about such a Incompatibility Issue between Intel Motherboards & low-profile Memories.
Oh well, they both told me to forget about it as that´s not a unique and universal Truth. They assured me that I could install Kingston KVR1333D3N9/4G, even the low-profile ones, on Intel® Desktop Board DZ68DB that they will be fully compatible.
They took me to some Intel Resellers ( Stores ) and all of them told me that they´ve been building Machines with Intel Deskboards and low-profile Memories as that of Kingston, KVR1333D3N9/4G, without any Problem.
I can´t deny that I am all confused with with all such Infos and don´t really know what Memory to buy for my Intel DZ68DB!!!!! I was also thinking of a Corsair CMV4GX3M1A1333C9 ( 4GB ) or a G-SIKLL Value 4GB F3-10666CL9S-4GBNT as an replacement for Kingston KVR1333D3N9/4G, but I still dunno if Kingston KVR1333D3N9/4G is indeed compatible or not with Intel DZ68DB___ OMG!!!
As to Corsair CMV4GX3M1A1333C9 ( 4GB ), I wrote to Corsair Support asking if they know about any Incompatibility issue between this RAM and Intel DZ68DB and I´ve just received the following answer :
'' " [...] I am unaware of any compatibility issues between that ram , CMV4GX3M1A1333C9 ( 4GB ), and your motherboard, it should work fine. However if you wanted to have 8GB or 16GB total its recommended to get a matched kit instead of 2 or 4 individual modules [...] " "
Is it really necessary to install dual-channel Modules ( 2x4 GB ) instead of single-channel ones??? Unless I am mistaken Memories can be installed one at a Time, but installing matched pair of RAM ( dual-channel Choice ) is likely to boost Performance someways, isn´t it ???
Oh well, if that´s the case, I would have to think of something like a Corsair CMX8GX3M2A1333C9 ( 2x4 GB ), but they´re not cheaper here, not really!!! Therefore, if I could... if I could opt for single-channel Corsair CMV4GX3M1A1333C9 ( 2 X4 GB ) that´ll be Great for me. Is it possible or dual-channel RAM is a must-have option ?
Please, Is there a chance for you to help address this Prob and finally choose 4 GB Memories compatible with Intel® Desktop Board DZ68DB??? I am kinda giving up Kingston KVR1333D3N9/4G as I am starting thinking that they´re not really compatible with this Intel Motherboard, am I wrong??? Any Help will be fully appreciated ;-) Thank you very much indeed and I wish you all a very Happy New Year!!!!
P.S.: I am not looking for any kind of Memory with Heat Spreaders as I will also install Thermaltake Frio on my System and am afraid of Fitting and Clearance Probs. I bought Thermaltake Frio because I was thinking of a future Overclock, and of course, I must have bought high-end Mobos like ASUS P8Z68-V Pro, Asrock Z68 EXTREME4 - (B3) etc; but, I preferred Warranty over Performance. Please, again, help me clear up all such doubts as to 4GB compatible RAMs with Intel DZ68DB, thank you lots!!!
I have the DZ68BC board purchased in December 2011. Not sure the differences of the BC series and yours. In my study for boards in the specs Intel listed ADATA Gaming Series DDR3-1600 as compatable. I found this through Amazon, dual channel, 2 Gb sticks, totaling 4 Gb for 32 bit systems costing $25.99 and working without issue. Hope that helps.
I just bought a DZ68BC and use the full height memory. System works fine. I put my old half-height kingston D3/N9 memory in my DH57DD motherboard and sure enough every 2-3 hours it caused the system to reboot. put the full height memory back into the DH57 board and problem went away. I believe Intel that they have a problem on all the boards with half-height memory.
Am using Corsair 4x4GB 1600 pn CMZ8GX3M2A1600C9 with no problems whatsoever with DZ68DB
I have the same setup using Corsair CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9 (same as above, just 16 vs. 8)
.. no issues
4 gig part # is CMZ4GX3M4A1600C9
I like to use standard crucial RAM. If you go to the site http://www.crucial.com it will tell you what is compatible. I just selected a pair (Kit) of 2 DDR3 modules after searching. You just use the tool to put in the brand and motherboard you have.
I have seen some posts claiming the Crucial Balistix RAM has had some quality issues, however, it may be to overclocking. I think a lot of problems could be caused by overclocking. I never overclock my products.
Hi there,
I just built my own PC with Intel DZ68DB Motherboard and installed that same Kingston KVR1333D3N9/4G Memory
well guess what it's NOT Compatible. I got the system to start up but it Blue Screen's (BSOD) all the time.
Now i installed Corsair Vengeance SKU# CMZ16GX3M4A1600C9 and it works great!
This Board is Dual Channel so i would not install Single Channel memory
The Kingston low profile memory's are not Compatible
According to ark the DZ68DB supports:
Memory Types | DDR3-1333 |
# of Memory Channels | 2 |
I have that board and I'm using G.SKILL Ripjaws Series 16GB (4 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 1333MHz DIMM PC3-10666 Desktop Memory Model F3-10666CL9D-8GBRL and I haven't had an issue since installation some 6 months ago.
Before I answer this, I own this motherboard, and I used 8 gigs of DDR3 and I am also using an i5 2500k processor. However, I do not overclock. I think if you will read the specs of this motherboard you will find what Intel says is compatable according to the specifications. I am using the DDR3 that the website www.crucial.com said is compatible with this motherboard. I always use the RAM that the RAM manufacturer recommends with a motherboard.
This is the RAM that I used.
Crucial 8GB (2 x 4GB) 240-Pin DDR3 SDRAM DDR3 1333 (PC3 10600) Desktop Memory Model CT2KIT51264BA1339

See this link above for list of tested RAM.
The board has four DIMM sockets and supports the following memory features:
To be fully compliant with all applicable DDR SDRAM memory specifications, the board should be populated with DIMMs that support the Serial Presence Detect (SPD) data structure. This allows the BIOS to read the SPD data and program the chipset to accurately configure memory settings for optimum performance. If non-SPD memory is installed, the BIOS will attempt to correctly configure the memory settings, but performance and reliability may be impacted or the DIMMs may not function under the determined frequency.
1.5 V is the recommended and default setting for DDR3 memory voltage. The other memory voltage settings in the BIOS Setup program are provided for performance tuning purposes only. Altering the memory voltage may (i) reduce system stability and the useful life of the system, memory, and processor; (ii) cause the processor and other system components to fail; (iii) cause reductions in system performance; (iv) cause additional heat or other damage; and (v) affect system data integrity.
Intel has not tested and does not warranty the operation of the processor beyond its specifications. For information on the processor warranty, refer to Processor Warranty Information.
Hello everyone and Intel team..
I need a very big help.
I was looking Kingston memories for this board and I really don't know which ones are compatible>
On intel page says:
http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/desktop/dz68bc/sb/CS-032688.htm#tested
At Kingston page says:
http://www.kingston.com/br/memory/search?DeviceType=7&Mfr=INT&Line=DZ68BC&Model=72056
So Intel Team, I would like to know the complete and updated list of all the memories of the manufacturer Kingston compatible with this motherboard.
Thank you in advance.
