I've had my DX58SO for two years with no problems. Today I tried to upgrade my memory with Corsair Vengance 4x4GB 1600MHz. After I installed the new memory, it wouldn't boot or post. I tried each module individually, blew the dust out of the connectors, put the BIOS in maintenance, and still could not get it to boot. So, I put my old memory back in and still can't get it to boot or post. Again, I blew the dust out of the connectors, put the BIOS in maintenance, pulled the battery for an hour, and still nothing. I'm at a loss and I need my computer to work. Any help would be most appreciated.
Try to start the machine with only one ram stick if you can get in to the BIOS and check the ram voltage setting If needed turn it down to 1.5 and try again .
Thanks Robert. I've tried that both with the old and new memory and when I only put one stick in I get three beeps. When I put two or more sticks in, the machine turns on but does nothing.
Oh, and how do I turn down the voltage? In the BIOS setup?
In the extreme tuning utility. and the BIOS , you should be able to control ram settings from both. Are you running thr most recent BIOS ??
I'm certain I'm not. I haven't upgraded the BIOS since I bought the board in January 2010. ![]()
Right now, I'm just trying to figure out what happened with my memory and how I can even get it to the BIOS screen...
Is that Memory on the approved List ?
No, and I didn't realize it until now. I am going to send it back. Could that new memory have jacked up my motherboard that is making my old memory not work now?
Normaly Wachdog will stop you from toasting the board but snit happens. You did not have watchdog disabled did you?
Wathdog was enabled.
In resetting the BIOS, what is more effective, pulling the battery or changing the jumper? I've tried both. I have the battery pulled right now and am going to leave it pulled for a while to wipe everything out.
Did you put four 4GB modules of memory on that board?
What cpu are you using?
Regards
