Hi everyone, I mounted the following workstation
Mother Board S5520SCR
2 x Intel Xeon Westmere E5649 CPU
SC5650WS chassis
ATI Radeon HD5770 Graphic Card
24GB of Kingston ECC Ram PC3-8500.
I plugged all checking the manual but I have black image in my screen, I tried with one cpu, one ram card, resetting the cmos bios and it doesn't work.
My question is do you know some other thing that I can test?, I have many doubts because when I reset the cmos bios I don't hear anything (common beeps). I can see some green light on the inner of the M.B, the CPU fan and chassis are running correctly.
today I see a led in the lower-left corner of the board, looking in the manual I see it is a 5-V Stand-by LED, after read the explanation, I'm not sure how to solve the problem (if it is) when I turn on the board, stand by led is the only turned on, and in the diagnostic leds is all off.
I have new information the diagnostic LED is working, but I don't know how to decode can anyone help me?
the panel show:
D LED #7 = ON (MSB)
D LED #6 = ON
D LED #5 = ON
D LED #4 = OFF
D LED #3 = ON
D LED #2 = ON
D LED #1 = OFF
D LED #0 = OFF (LSB)
The decoder is on page 162 of the TPS at http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/server/s5520sc/sb/CS-030231.htm
The code you list is 0xEC, which tells us it's stopping somewhere during the Memory Test.
Do you get any beeps?
If you pull out all the memory, does it give you three beeps?
What is the part number and DRAM of the memory you're using?
Hi Dan, thank for you help
the first part of Appendix E tells you how to convert LEDs to the byte code. off off off on / off off on off would be 0x12 - Starting application processor initialization
That processor is noted on http://www.intel.com/support/motherboards/server/sb/CS-030213.htm as
*Support for these processors requires BIOS revision R0054 or later.
Try booting with only one DIMM and one processor - if you do have an older BIOS, maybe it will let you boot long enough to update the BIOS
Thanks again Dan,
Do you happen to have the processor part number?
4 or 4 letters printed on top the CPU starting with a S or a Q
The mother board part number my be helpful as well off the bar code label on the board 6-3 number.
I do, the number is Q3QS, how it can help?
I don't know exactly which one is, but I found this:
QSHV04500524 PBA E30682 355
That motherboard shipped with BIOS 50. The processor code is a tray processor, which makes it hard to to determine if it's a supported processor or not. But if it's one of the refresh processors, it's not going to work.
is there another way to see if it supports?
another processor code perhaps?
Q3QS http://www.cpu-world.com/sspec/Q3/Q3QS.html is an very early pre-release engineering sample processor.
See This link for addtional information on ES sample processors : http://www.intel.com/support/processors/sb/CS-030747.htm?wapkw=sample processors
This processor will not work in the mother board.
Never buy a Q- spec processor.
thanks for you answer Doc I have a question
the processor L5640 Westmere-EP Spec Code: Q3NC will work?
