Last month SSD Toolbox reports more than 3 TB written on my SSD, today only 50 GB. Is this perhaps a firmware bug, counter overflow?
(Sorry for my bad English)
I do believe it's an issue with the 510 SSD and Intel Rapid Storage Technology. I have 3 Intel 510 SSD's on 3 units and they all have this issue. When I was using 10.0, the SMART data were updating normally. After I updated to 10.5, 10.8,11.0, and 11.1, the data logs stopped updating the values. I hope this will be fixed in future versions of Intel Rapid Storage Technology.
My Intel 510 SSD appears to have the same problem. When the "Host Writes" reaches about 4TB, it starts over again.
Confirm
When the "Host Writes" reaches about 4TB, it starts over again.

Is this perhaps a firmware bug, counter overflow ?
p.s. Intel SSD 510 Series 250 Gb F/W PWG4 Host writes 57.3 Gb
Are you sure that you have so much writes? Try to monitor your drive with ProcessMonitor or SsdReady and compare results with Host writes value.
Sorry but I don't have a solution. Just wanted to say that I noticed the same thing. My 510's are over a year old now and I was worried that the Media Wearout Indicator value in the Intel SSD Toolbax would never be accurate if the Host Writes kept resetting after 4TB.
I lost count of the number of times that I hit the 4TB limit and then reset. But I just now checked the toolbox and I finally see a change in the E9 media wearout indicator. It now shows 99% instead of the 100% under Normalized heading. So maybe that part is still functioning.
And there is still no firmware update to solve this problem until now.
add my intel ssd 510 250gb
after recording 12 TB
Media Wear out Indicator (E9) began to show 99
and reset statistics after 4 TB
