OCZ is just BRAND NAME, this is a big and not very bad resseler, it's a LABEL on OEM products, produced by others manufacturers, so I am very sceptic hearing about "OCZ engineers on OCZ forums". What engineers? Label gluing?

I think you might be mixing up OCZ with companies like Adata, Patriot or G.Skill.
Those are the same companies.
They all not producing anything, just resellers.
For example OCZ PSUs are manufacured by FSP group and other well known China manufacturers. I know because I was disassembled a lot of OCZ products, including memory modules (heatsink removing), that have remarkered "OCZ" chips, but after dozen of alcohol and acetone became some AM2 manufactured memory chips. Some OCZ products are not selling with other brand names, like SSDs, but not in China, that have own well-known brands internally and I am not sure that OCZ SSDs is not some OEM drives or just manufactured and labeled for OCZ, but in real-life there is nothing from OCZ itself, except good user manuals/guides and technical support.
OCZ has its own manufacturing plants for SSDs.
This does not look clear for me. It could be true, but it could be fake also. Hope I am wrong.
IT DOES NOT WORK TO UPGRADE THIS DAMN FIRMWARE.....
Ive spend the whole weekend trying to fix this.. And Im stuck at the stage:
The intel SATA SSD Firmware Update did not complete.
Please try the following
1) Disable the drive pasword protection ,>>>>>>>> I dont have anything like this in my bios.. I have no password anywhere. ??
2) Enable S.M.A.R.T capabilites...>>>>>>>>>> Have done this.. Still not working.
3) Enable legacy IDE miode in bios..>>>>>>>> Done.. Still not working same error all the time..
Can some1 post me a step by step guide how to do a secure erase ???? Ive heard some rumor about this.. Why is it so hard to post a graphical STEP BY STep GUIDE or even a video how to SOLVE this problem / update firmware.. I quess you dont want to show that you actually have a firmware bug in your drives...

A step by step update guide is the "SATA SSD Firmware Update Tool Guidelines.pdf" available at:

Make sure to use the latest firmware update tool (version 1.92, released on September, 1st), also downloadable from that page.
Also, make sure the CD where you burnt the ISO image has no read problems.
If you don't succeed to update the firmware in this way, try connecting the SSD to another system and repeat the procedure there.
If you still don't succeed, contact the Intel technical support.

Thx for your tips.. But what is this Drive password that people are talking about. I have never entered a drive password.. And In my bios.. I cant find ANYTHING that says anything about a drive-password. ???
Im using a gigabyte p35-ds4 Motherboard. rev 2.0
Ok now I have done the following:
Booted and done a secure erase... Now the drive is showing 8 GB instead of 8 MB... So I now try to flash the new firmware.. But when I start it up.. It asks for a password????
PLease help me... what should I do next to get past this..
I've never set up a drive password, so I can't be of help. However, I think you may find something about it in your motherboard BIOS settings...
This is what Intel says in their guide:
Turn Off Drive Password Protection
Some systems provide the ability to password-protect their drives. If your system has password protection enabled, the Intel SSD may reject any requests from the host to update the firmware. You may need to turn off the drive password protection prior to beginning the firmware update process.
Although it varies from system to system, you can usually find the Drive Password Protection feature located in the BIOS. Consult your system documentation for the BIOS settings and passwords.
If you need help disabling the drive password protection feature, contact Intel Customer Support: http://www.intel.com/go/ssdsupport

But the problem is that I cant even get into bios while the SSD is connected. The password prompt pops up instantly when I start the computer.. And if I disconnect the drive and go into bios.. And then add the drive.. Bios need a reboot to be able to see the added drive. So I cant deactivate the password.. This password protection seems to be from Intels internal SSD and not anything you can remove in bios I think.. like a HARD encrypted protecton and only intel has the password.... I think Ill have to return this to the manufacturer..
EDIT: Ok I tried another computer.. And now I can actually get into bios... But I have no clue where I can deactivate the password option. I cant find anything on my Gigabyte ds4-p35 Motherboard..
Current situation... I have now managed to get the size back from 8 mb to 120... But now its password protected after I did a secure erase from the intel utility...
Now I cant install windows on the drive.. And I cant flash the latest firmware either.. Please see the screens for more info...
I have a gigabyte ds4-p35 .. And I have NO option whatsoever in bios which disables any hard drive password.... Ive checked all pages
So what should I do?? Return it to manufacturer or is there something I can do to solve this myself?? Feels like I have tried everything now..
And yes I have tried both ACHI mode and LEGACY IDE mode.. Exactly the same error messages... On both screens...
Damn shame, has it occured to anyone in the year 2011 with all this technology we can't just update the firmware by just using an auto update utility, and instead we have to use stone age methods ?
These drives are supposed to make our lives easier not harder, unless of course we all got nothing better to do but dedicate hours and days trying to revive defective electronics.
