may i ask why you switched boards if everything was fine on the asus ?
I wanted to upgrade it ...there is no specific reason behind this....
It restarts ..reads hardware and all...if there is a bootable DVD it boots from that and if i dont press any key and let it boot from Hard Disk ..than it gets hang....
1) load the bios-defaults
2) try to install it with only one parition created using the entire disk. the installer will make 2 of your 1 partition to place bootfiles, so don't be confused.
i am too facing similar problem with DG43NB+q9400+Win7. i think there is some serious compatibility issues with DG43NB & win7. don't know what to do?

When the system hangs is there any POST code error, or anything on the screen?
I ran into the same problems with my attempts to install Win7. Eventually I got it install by putting in a separate video card (PCIe). After completing the initial install and updating (video) drivers, I was able to take the separate card out and I have been using the onboard DVI no without issues.
No problems here!
I have a DG43NB and a q9400 (using onboard video). I procrastinated Win 7 for over 6 months because of this thread. But, after someone gave me WIn 7 update, I took a chance.
No problems going from Visa 64 to Win 7 64. I assume other peoples problems are unique to their setups.
