My DX58So with i7 920 is acting up. The Windows 7 screen goes black and will not wake. Power down and unplug power. Reboot and get "The firmware has detected a CMOS battery failure. Press Enter to continue." This happens every day when the computer is idle. When the computer is being used, no problem. But I'm getting tired of resetting the date/time and unplugging the power.
The battery feels loose in the battery holder. (it rocks left to right when you touch it). I suspect bad contact with the positive (up) side. Can I change the battery holder? I just put in a new battery after living with the situation for 2 months. Still same problem with new battery.
Any help would be most appreciated. Thanks
I would test the battery with a meter to make sure it is good and then look for a way to tighten the locking mechanism on the battery holder. It could be changed by someone who does board level repairs.
Thanks for your reply. I will try that and let you know if it works.
The battery was good. The problem apparently was overheating of the CPU. The fan wasn't seated properly. Put in a new fan and running cool and quiet now.
Thanks
I am having the same problem, I just got my DX58SO replaced from Intel ... and after i assembled my PC ..it shows the same problem again and again... My graphic card was not being detected at first, then i updated my graphic card using windows updater.
Whats wrong can anyone tell me, why would Intel send me a product with corrupted CMOS battery??
Also, even after applying thermal coolant, the default temparature remains as 62-68 Degrees, which i feel is very high according to the standards , need help immediately!!
