Hi,
I just purchased a new Toshiba R835-P55 with a Sandy Bridge i5 proccessor and WiDi 2.0. I have updated the graphics driver and the WiDi software to the latest available version.
Initially before the software update I wasnt able to connect to the TV. Now I am sometimes able to connect and other times the connection is immediately dropped after connecting. Sometimes it connects and after a period of time my connection is dropped. Not once have I had a fully satisfactory connection. Most of the times the connection is dropped while I watch a video. 1080p playback is not very smooth either (I work in Extended Mode)
I did try resetting the adapter and it worked for a 20mins after the reset and then dropped my connection again. I did try restarting the laptop too.
Please let me know if there is any way around and if I can fix these issues, it would be really helpful if I can figure out if this technology would be of use before my 14 day return period for the Netgear Adapter.
Thanks
maybe you want to double check the system requirement , if there is anything missed, thanks

I am sure my laptop is compatible to run WiDi 2.0. It came installed with the WiDi software and has a dedicated WiDi button too. One of the reason I bought it was for this functionality. It is also advertised in their website : http://us.toshiba.com/computers/laptops/portege/R830/R835-P55X
Initially I was able to hold a stable connection for upto 20mins, now it is down to less then a minute. Once connected, the adapter shows my desktop, flickers for a while and more of often then not, will then drop the connection.
Any idea why?
Does the connection simply drop or is there an associated error message?
My recommendation is to perform some updates. First update your graphics driver, which you can get directly from Toshiba's updates site. Second, update your WiFi drivers from here: http://www.intel.com/go/wirelessdisplayupdate. After that, give WiDi another try.
If that didn't fix the problem, you might try upgrading to the latest WiDi software on the link above. I would recommend setting a restore point before doing that.

I have made sure I have updated the graphics driver from the Toshiba site and I also have the lastest WiDi 2 software installed. Intially for the 1st day, it used to work for a while but then from yesterday onwards I have not been able to hold a connection for more then a minute. After I connect to the adapter, the TV shows my desktop, then flickers once or twice, trying to hold the connection and then the conenction is dropped and the adapter light stays green for a while even after the connection is dropped and then goes back to "ready to connect" mode.
On my computer most of the time I dont see any error message, once the connection is dropped it says no adapters available to connect and the status displays a link to 'help troubleshoot'.
I also have a Toshiba and had this initally happen as well, but now it just always says no adapters. This was after upgrading to latest WiDi software.
Did you update to the latest WiFi drivers at the same time? Disconnect with no message sounds like a WiFi issue to me.

I think I have an Intel wireless N-1000 chip in my laptop and the WifI update on the Widi website (for N-6200) does not apply to me.
I did download the updates available for Wifi from the Toshiba website. Is there any other place where I can find updates for my Wifi chip?
I just checked, in the device manager it says I have an Intel(R) WiFi 1000 BGN chip. Are there any updates for that?
I have the very same problem can anyone help.
Can we please get some product support?
Are there any other things we can try? Any advice? I still cant hold a connection. I keep dropping my WiDi connection and I've tried everything I can think of.
@arjunk27 You'll want to update to the latest WiFi driver here: http://www.intel.com/go/wirelessdisplayupdate. Yes, I know it says 6200, but it'll work for your 1000agn card as well. WRT your question about disconnects, your Wifi environment is likely congested. You could try switching WiDi to a different channel using My WiFi technology. However, you should first update the WiFi driver.
