Hey guys, need some help, I have a sony z series notebook with all the hardware, software.. installed, when i start the widi it asks for security code, i enter it and proceeds to connect to wireless display ... but then comes up with error msg "unable to send desktop to remote display"
everything looks correct, widi starts up, searches for adpter, finds the netgear pvt1000, press connect, the adapter provides security code, i enter that into the widi... proceeds to connect, and then the message..... HELP?
Sorry for your troubles. Couple questions:
- Are you connected to a WiFi network at the same time as attempting to connect to WiDi?
- What version of WiDi are you using? You can find this in Help->About in the WiDi UI.
- Have you upgraded to the latest Graphics and WiFi drivers from Sony?
I would highly suggest getting all the drivers updated and to download the latest WiDi software from Intel.

I am using WIDI 2.0.31.0
I reloaded my computer, I have all the latest drivers from intel site, automatic detects...them
all the intel hd graphics, wireless, etc.. are the most updated releases
this has worked in the past, but after reload... everything works up to sending desktop to remote display
I have reloaded the notebook 4 times to get the same results
yes, I am connected to a wireless network when i attempt too go widi
Thanks for the updated information. I would highly recommend resetting the TV adapter, in this case. Unplug the adapter and look on the back. You should see a tiny recessed button. Use a pin to press the button in and hold for 10s. Then plug back in and attempt to reconnect to the adapter using the WiDi software.
When the WiDi software connects for the first time, it will ask you to update the adapter's firmware. Be sure to click Yes for this step.

tryed the suggested, to no avail
still the same, also restarted the computer... same message, unable to send desktop to remote display
did the corrrect rest by holding down the power button and reset button at same time, until light blinks
tryed reconnecting... everything is now in german on the display on tv, but askes for code, then trys to connect.. to same msg,
You should be able to reset the language by holding down the recessed button while the adapter screen is on. The adapter will cycle through all the languages until you get back to English.
When you updated the graphics driver, did you happen to upgrade to catch the version you upgraded to? The recommended version is 15.21.* series. If you've installed 15.22 series graphics, please downgrade to the version on this page: http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wtech/iwd/sb/CS-031109.htm.
One other thought - are you connecting to a 5GHz WiFi network while attempting to connect? If so, please disconnect from that network and try WiDi again.

@Dags Is your problem happening after you've tried the software updates in this thread?

The link that you provided has the most updated graphics driver 15.22 v. I have this driver installed. I can't downgrade because i do not have the link to 15.21v. Any suggestions?
@shashi I tried downloading 15.21, but once i install it, I get an error message that my pc doesn't meet the minimum requirements. My PC has intel I5, win 7 home premium 64 bit.
I checked my graphics adapter and it is ATI Radeon, is it the reason why I am getting error messages?
Dags
Dags, if your system has Switchable graphics with ATI Radeon, then you will need to get the latest graphics drivers from ATI itself. If your system is ATI graphics only, then you're not going to be able to run Wireless Display, as it requires Intel HD graphics installed. You should be able to find out if your system supports both from the original packaging / specs.
