It's always good to see the systems that are working right. My Kingston ram is running 1333 as a default. Do you know what yours says?

My ram is running at 1066MHz, 7-7-7-20, multiplier 8x.
I changed in BIOS to 9-9-9-27 1600Mhz, but system became unstable so went back to above settings by choosing Auto in bios.

Do you power the system off, or leave it runing all the time. I'm asking because some have been having a problem with booting.
That's interesting mine is 1333.30, 9-9-9-24, multiplier 10x
I'm using six sticks of KHX2133C9AD3T1K2 (3 sets of 2)
No problems with cold boots, or "Restart" (i.e. reboot) from within WIN7.
I am not sure about "Sleep" from within WIN7, however. This sometimes doesn't work, but could be due to my Belkin KVM switch; my screen is blank after i wake-up the system. I am not too bothered, since system boots quite fast from cold start.

I might try with 1333Mhz but a stable system with 24GB ram is more important to me.
In fact the 1600Mhz did work to a point, i.e. WIN7 booted, I re-ran the WEI and this wnet up from 7.7 to 7.9. But when I launched vmware workstation, the system froze. To conclude, more testing is needed.

This is ram I had but never used and just used it in this build. I need the 24G too and I'm looking for the right ram to move into.

CPU: i7 990x
C:\ drive: intel 520 ssd 120G (sata3), nothing on this drive but operating system
HHD's: 500G/WD sata2 WD5003ABYX (2 drives), 500G/WD sata3 WD5002AALX, sata2 1T/Samsung
OPTICAL: 1 DVD burn, 1 BR burn
The 1333 speed on my ram is the default set by the bios.
I turn the system off every night and restart it every morning. I went through the cold boot problems for a few days and then it settled down and I haven't had any problems with it since (about a week now).

Your i7-990 CPU has a memory controller that supports ram speeds upto 1333Mhz, that's why your ram DIMMs run at this speed.
My i7-950 CPU supports only upto 1066Mhz (without overclocking), that's why my ram runs at 1066MHz.

Ha Wolfman Bob here what volts do you have your RAM set to now ( 1.5 ) May I sugest 1.6 , The Ram can take it , I have some DDR3-1333 running at 1400Mhz But I had to turn it up to 1.6 to get stable . I talked to Kingston about first and it worked for me .

That's a good point. By selecting XMP profile in the BIOS, my voltage was set to 1.6xx volts, the max specs of my Kingston.
I noted that my uncore speed was set to more than 2100MHz.
Do you know if it is possible to lower uncore speed while keeping ram speed to 1600Mhz?

I just ordered 24G of Corsair Vengeance CMZ12GX3M3A2000C10 (2 kits). When I get it in, I'll run some test with different settings and let you know how it goes. I decided on the Corsair because they seem to have a lot of experience with Intel problems and they gave me a 100% guarantee that it would work or they would refund the money without any questions.
