IDU 3.1.2.022 main application doesn't start (appear on screen) if RAID1 disks presents on DH67GD and DP67DE. It shows up in Task manager processes as intelmain, but nothing shows up on screen.
When removing RAID disks, IDU works fine.
Win7-64, latest BIOS&drivers
Arnis, please provide us with some more information about the problem that you are seeing. What version of Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology do you have installed? What SATA ports did you have devices plugged into when you saw the problem? What SATA ports did you have devices plugged into when Intel(R) Desktop Utilities (IDU) was working? Did you install IDU when no RAID array existed (i.e. you added the RAID array later)? After adding the RAID array and seeing the issue, did you try uninstalling and reinstalling IDU?
Board DH67GD
---------------------
Assembled from brand new details
Internal SATA ports:
0 - Intel SSD (X-25M 120GB).
1&2 - 2xHDD, RAID1 (Seagate 7200.11 1,5TB)
3 - DVD
eSATA:
4&5 - empty
BIOS - not 100% sure if I put the latest. Can't check that computer now.
SATA mode in BIOS - RAID.
OS - Windows 7-64 Home Premium OEM (clean install) with latest Intel & MS drivers/updates
Intel INF - 9.2.0.1021
Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology - 10.1.0.1008
RAID1 was created with Intel RST in Windows environment (not in BIOS)
IDU 3.1.2.022 installed after RAID1 was created. And didn't work.
I try to uninstall and reinstall IDU after new Intel® ME: Management Engine Driver appears (7.0.4.1197), but no success.
That computer have some suspicious drops in RAID1 performance. But I couldn't see SMART data for them.
So I had to check that computer later (maybe when Intel replacement for recalled board arives:)
Board DP67DE
----------------------
Internal SATA ports:
0 - Intel SSD (X-25M 120GB).
1&2 - 2xHDD, RAID1 (Seagate 7200.11 1TB)
3 - DVD
eSATA:
4 - HDD (Seagate 5900 2TB)
5 - empty
BIOS - latest 0051.
SATA mode in BIOS - RAID.
OS - Windows 7-64 Ultimate (clean install) with latest Intel & MS drivers/updates
Intel INF - 9.2.0.1021
Intel® ME: Management Engine Driver 7.0.4.1197 (in installed programs it shows version 7.0.0.1144)
Intel(R) Rapid Storage Technology - 10.1.0.1008
RAID1 was created with Intel RST in Windows environment (not in BIOS)
IDU 3.1.2.022 installed before or after RAID1 creation - can't remember.
As soon as RAID1 array created, IDU stopped to show up. As soon as I broken RAID1 (with RST) to single drives, IDU starts worked fine.
I experiment several times with uninstall and reinstall IDU and delete/make RAID array, but nothing changed.
Because I need to monitor HDD SMART data, I broke up Intel RAID1 and make RAID1 with Windows disk management.
IDU work fine in this configuration (except that IDU shows temperature only for one HDD, and one unknown temperature).
I also can monitor SMART data now for RAID1 drives (with IDU & third party utilities).
Thanks for providing the information. We have reproduced the issue and are working to prepare a fix...

Same problem that Intel Desktop Utilities does not show on the screen (start and stay at process list)
Raid1 in use. But this has worked some time ago?
Windows 7 64-bit, Intel DH67CL board.
Maybe something to do with Disk Information, "Model Number" will return random data from Raid 1 set.
I'm having the same problem. IDU starts, but doesn't appear on screen. I've downloaded all the latest drivers and BIOS as this is a new build on a DQ45CB board with a Q8200 processor, and 2 WD 1T hard drives, using RAID1 and the AHCI controller. Using the AHCI controller was a problem in and of itself. I had to setup a raid1 array, then install win7, then edit the registry, then change from raid to ahci in BIOS - what a joy that was.
In addition to not being able to see IDU running, I can't turn on MEI because it tells me the password (admin) is wrong! I'm not sure what to do with this thing. I followed the instructions to a T.
Can anybody help me? Please!
Best Regards,
Paul
I got the same problem with DQ67EP. Is there any solution available by now?
Given the original post refers to an old version of IDU, have you tried searching for a newer version to suit your board (on the Intel website) Guest? I'm aware a newer version was released some time ago for the DG45ID but it didn't work with it and then an even newer version was released which did (but wasn't officially supported on that board). I assume that the newest version would work with your board if you uninstall the old version correctly from Control Panel before installing the new one.
The version you refer to is the one I use. I try starting it within a Windows Terminal Server session and it does not show up on the screen even though a process called intelmain.exe runs after I start the Desktop Utilities.

What makes you think that's a supported environment for any version of IDU?
Your question made me trying to start it on the console and IDU shows the same behaviour.
The same question applies again? What makes you think this should work in such a scenario (rather than as an installed app on an ordinary desktop PC using a recent desktop OS, configured in an ordinary way)? Have you tried it with a standard setup yet?
same problem with DH67BL "Intel(R) Desktop Utilities" is not working.
please advice ASAP .
