The products usually have a tested memory list, but for some reason I don't see one posted for this product.
So, I theoreticly cheated and just went to a major vendors web site:

I would have never thought that old Kingston would save the day. I guess that I gave up too soon in my search. I only assumed that they did not exist because Google came up with nothing.
The other reason that I gave up so easily is that a manufacturer of a DDR2 memory-based hard drive admitted to the non-existence of the 8GB modules that were approved for their 64GB drive; thus making it only a 32GB drive.
Thanks for saving my stupid hide and next time, I'll try harder first.
I believe that that is a kit of 2 sticks of 4GB each (8GB total).

You were correct the first time. One just needs to buy a 16GB kit to get two 8GB modules.
And being persistent like that, I found the 8GB non-ECC DDR2 modules for the HyperDrive 5.
