During a Windows XP update, something happened and I got BSOD. After that, one of my programs said I needed "Sonic Focus drivers" etc. I have traced that to Intel Audio Studio, which will not execute...same message...need Sonic Focus drivers.
I have checked the Intel driver update for my board (D975XBX) and located the update that also re-intalls Audio Studio (
Audio: IDT* 92XX Driver5790.3v225/22/2008). The release notes say that
2. Intel Audio Studio does not support over-install or repair features. When update Intel Audio Studio, you must first uninstall the current driver before installing the new version.
Well, I don't think the driver is there anymore since I get this message that I need to install the driver, but I am not sure. Further checking of the Intel site to find where the driver might be didn't really help (e.g. device manger -- audio -- a bunch of codec stuff none of which is "sonic focus" and all of which is supposedly "working properly."
So, can I install this new driver? Do I need to unistall Audio Studio first?
TIA.

Hi Steve,
Even i have the same trouble since I did update my computer from windows updat. Were you able to solve this? If yes Could you please tell me what was the solution?
Thank you,
Sanjib
i have the same problem is there anyway to fix it
Hi Steve,
Please check under Add/Remove program to confirm that Sigmatel/IDT audio driver and Sonic Focus component have been removed, if not, please remove them before installing the updated Sonic Focus driver.
There seems to be 2 copies of IAS driver on download center (there should only be 1, I suspect this is caused by some posting glitches), please use the newer one:
FYI, Intel Audio Studio (IAS) will not be supported moving forward. The latest driver would be the final IAS release.
Alternatively, u may try installing the audio driver with IDT's own GUI, which still has limited support:

Hope this helps.

Program keeps asking for sonic focus driver
I, too, have no Sonic Focus driver after a reboor and removal of a virus/trojan.
I went to Driver Detective and tried their program wghich detects ALL old drivers needing update on your machine.
I'll let you know how it pans out ;00
I have the some problem.. not solved yet?

Get message that Intel Audio Studio Sonic Focus TM drivers are not installed?
Hello Kristy,
The exact same situation has now come-up on my PC and I would appreciate it if you would let me know how to correct it as I have done a great deal of searching on the Intel website and got nowhere! I couldn't even get the "Intel Board ID Tool" downloaded and could not find the applicable "Sonic Focus Drivers" for my Intel (R) 945GV Express Chipset Family (Memory Controller 82945G/GZ)

new driver gets rid of Intel Audio program, removes old driver, puts new one on, and now you have a tray icon instead of the shortcut on the desktop.
and where can I get/download this "new driver" that will do all this (remove old driver, IAS, etc ... )???
audio studio fail to install and sonic focus drive must be loade to excute the applection.
Reading this thread... posted on December 15th and a long string of identical posts following. OMG. Not one response from anyone with an answer.
Not even a response validating the problem.
I am done with this. What good is a media system with no sound?
I have attempted to uninstall and reinstall...
The installation program reports failure, then I reboot and it reports success... the only difference being that the little dialog insists that it should be working fine... in the meantime my speakers are simply paperweights.
I have struggled for the past 6 days to make this system work.
I have looked for resolution in countless web searches and found disapointment... even on Intel's own website.
It is a D975XBX2... and it seems that Intel has yet to address this continuing problem.
There is only one resolution to a manufacturer who isn't responsive or accountable....
I'm taking this steaming pile of junk back to the store and getting an AMD Phenom system.
If they refuse to take it back, then I'll be breaking out the "attention getter" and charging it back on my CC.
If Intel finds itself having to explain to enough vendors that in spite of the fact their junk doesn't actually work
that the vendor should be grateful for the "wonderfullness" that is Intel... then perhaps they will eventually discover the meaning of Customer Care.
Then I'm setting up Linux and using my XP64 disk for a freakin coffee coaster.
At least if it has problems after that they won't come at a premium price for being ignored.
