There are two leds in your system. One is the +5V standby led which is located in the motherboard and the other is the front panel power led. They are all green when lit. With your problem is the +5V led always "on"? Is there any blinking sequence in the front panel power led?
Thanks for replying. The motherboard LED stays on when the power supply is on, but the LED on the front of the computer (casing) does not come on. After switching the power supply off and back on, the fans would spin for a split second but would stop. The mother board led light would be on and after trying to power up from the front of the computer casing, i got nothing and no lights. Some miracous reason, the computer ended up turning on after many tries of doing so. I tried to restart and works fine, i tried to shut down and turn back on and works fine. I think this happens when the computer is powered off for too long. Unfortunately now i do have one program that is not running properly anymore and under my task manager i am seeing many processes with *32 in front of them (which i did not see before). I run on 64 bit.
Perhaps you can start with Support for your motherboard and follow the troubleshooting procedure given.
either your running a bunch of 32 bit programs in the background or maybe a virus / Trojan is?
Run a good Anti Virus scan of your system and maybe lavasoft Ad-ware or spybot search & destroy to clean it up.
I ran microsoft security essentials and did a full scan for viruses, nothing found, also ran super antispyware and computer cleaner.

Yes. I removed the battery to reset the settings, it took a few attempts to turn on the system but it finally did. Right now I am just having trouble with a program that used to run on my system in 32 bit and is no longer running. I am also afraid to turn off the computer for too long or put it to sleep because i do not want it to die out again.

Does no one else find it unusual that a near new mobo is having CMOS battery fail messages? These batteries normally last years so something else is going on. My bet is something, somewhere is contacting a part of the motherboard it's not meant to. Does the motherboard boot up normally when out of it's case if just the basics are plugged in? Have you had a careful inspection of all the motherboard to check for physical damage?
For the program you can run the system restore and see if it solves the problem. If not you can just re-instal it.
Did you update the bios to the latest version?
Is it your procedure in shutting down your system by swtiching off the switch at the back of the power supply?
Hi Boyet, I tried to reinstall it, that didnt help. I am not sure if i have the latest BIOS version. I usually just turn off the monitor screen and leave the computer running, however if i do turn it off i shut it down but i leave the switch in back of the power supply ON. Also where can i do system restore and what will that do?
My Flyingkiwi, yes the motherboard was inspected by a computer technical and professional when it was installed. I have looked over the mother board do not see any physical damages, although i may be missing something. However i need to say the computer is on and working right now, except i do not know if i put it to sleep or shutdown for a few hours if it will turn on again
In windows 7 you can find system restore by clicking Start then All Programs then Accessories and lastly System Tools. System restore will let you set your system back to a particular date where the system is working normally.
BTW you must have administrator privilege to run it.

It will almost certainly be a hardware issue causing this. Something rubbing on the bottom of the board (in between the case wall and printed circuit board), a crack around a mounting hole or even possibly a manufacturing defect with the board are just a few possibilities. As already mentioned, a good way to get to the bottom of this would be to test the PC in a caseless environment (ie with all the components connected out in the open). If you want to get to the bottoim of this, your PC will need to be shut down. While it's up and running now is a good time to back up your precious data to external media. That way, if the worst happens and a replacement motherboard is needed (perhaps with a total OS fresh install), then you have everything ready to be back as you were.
If you're concerned it won't boot up again if you shut it down, then clearly there's still a problem which needs sorting out. If you're not confident about setting up a caseless test, a computer shop should be able to find and rectify the problem for you.
