hi all, i am facing a problem on a server of one of our client that it, from time to time status led blinks amber and shuts down, and in order to be able to start it up again, i need to unplug it from the power source for few seconds then plug it back.
our dealer changed the whole machine twice with no changes.
recently i installed intel server management and in the log i found this : Critical assertion event: PCIe link0 reports uncorrectable bus errot / Critical Interrupt.
any suggestions would be highly appreciated.

That's the first populated PCIe slot. What adapters do you have in the motherboard, and which slots are they in?
thank you for your reply Dan, a PCI modem was installed but after this problems appeared i removed it and reformat the server, it worked fine for 1 or 2 month and it reappeared again, so there are no adapters installed on the motherboard.
Can you post the whole SEL? Maybe there's something else in it that will give a clue as to what's wrong.
Ok Dan, monday i will post the log and hope it will give you a better idea of what could be the problem.
hi, this is the full SEL file, one more thing, a serial cable is attached to the serial port on the server, it saves the pbx activities to a text file.
hi, this is the full SEL file, one more thing, a serial cable is attached to the serial port on the server, it saves the pbx activities to a text file.
The two errors I see are:
System Management Software states that OS Critical Stop sensor 0 reports the OS has suffered a runtime stop. OS Stop
PCIe Link0 reports uncorrectable bus error. Critical Interrupt
You can re-update the BIOS then clear the CMOS by jumper, but that's about the only thing I know of, that would affect the PCIe table.
Looking at the SEL events, it is indicative that when this event occurs
13/09/2010 9:13 PM CRITICAL assertion event: System Management Software states that OS Critical Stop sensor 0 reports the OS has suffered a runtime stop. OS Stop
A system shutdown occurs & I am assuming that the restart happens the next day as indicated by the log events.
Apart from what Dan mentioned in the previous post, I would also look at temporarily unplugging the serial cable that provides the PBX data to a text file (since you did mention that the modem was already uninstalled previously) & observe if the issue still persists. Goodluck.
i unplugged the serial cable, updated bios using the cd provided with the motherboard and yet, still the same problem, any more suggestions ?
thank you
Are you running the lastest drivers for the chipset, raid, SAS / SATA and newest BIOS/ BMC/ SDR code stack?
What is your type and configuration of HDD's?
(PCI link 0 is the disk controllers)
Have you resolve this problem.
I have the same happening now.
what is the resolution of this problem?
thanx in advance
