Intel IT has been implementing a service-based architecture over the last few years to improve the responsiveness of enterprise solutions while reducing development time and development costs. This strategy has proved to be very effective in delivering quick responses to changing business requirements and efficient use of scarce IT development resources. Our experience with building a service-based architecture shows that an incremental approach to developing reusable modular building blocks provides better results and return on investment than a more ambitious approach.
