Hotfix Release October 2009: Changed CSR generation to use a 2048 bit key (as opposed to a 1024 bit key). This aligns with a GoDaddy* update to require CSR with at least 2048 bit key..
On May 17, 2009 VeriSign upgraded all SSL Certificates to a new root. Existing Intel® vPro technology computers (through Intel® AMT 5.1) platforms will not be compatible with standard remote configuration certificates issued from VeriSign after this date. A change request for future Intel platforms to include this root has been submitted. The Intel® RCFG Certificate Utility has been modified to support this change. Please see information from VeriSign that describes how this change affects remote configuration certificates.

There are different methods that can be used to provision a client system. Most provisioning methods require physical interaction with the client system. However, remote configuration is a provisioning option that allows a client system to be provisioned with zero physical interaction. Remote configuration is ideal for systems that have already been deployed into an environment—but have not yet been provisioned—allowing IT to provision systems without visiting each system individually.
To use remote configuration for provisioning a system, a special remote configuration (RCFG) certificate is needed. In the 4th quarter of 2008, we delivered a 20 page white paper that described much of what goes into selecting the right certificate. Today, we release a utility that automates the decision tree with your input to help narrow your choices down in minutes.
