Enterprises running Microsoft Systems Management Server (SMS) 2003 have the ability to
activate Intel® vPro™ technology with Intel® Active Management Technology™ (AMT)
now. Plans to upgrade the infrastructure to System Center Configuration Manager 2007
SP1(SCCM 2007 SP1) for Intel AMT should not delay activation of Intel AMT today.
Implementing Intel AMT management capabilities prior to migrating to SCCM 2007 SP1
will minimize the complexity of the migration project by ensuring that organizational
support of Intel AMT management is already in place. Tools for migration of Intel AMT
management from SMS to SCCM make this easy. This approach allows an organization to
realize the benefits of Intel AMT now while providing a smooth migration path to SCCM
2007 SP1.
