This is the new updated guide for ordering a vPro Provisioning certificate from GoDaddy as they have modified their web site and added support for Standard as well as Premium SSL certificates.

This document contains the detailed steps used to order a vPro Remote Configuration Provisioning Client Certificate from GoDaddy. There are many methods that can be used, but this was tested and validated to work for both SMS and SCCM SP2 to provide Remote Configuration Provisioning to vPro clients.

SUMMARY: You will be required to prove that you, or your company, own the rights to the domain for which you are applying for this certificate. In the following example, I first registered my lab domain (PRODEMOLAB.COM) before ordering my Remote Configuration Certificate.  Most Enterprise customers will have the proper ownership to their internal domain name.  I also needed a Company representative to submit a letter of approval (Company Letterhead) to GoDaddy giving me authority to request this certificate.  Different Certificate vendors will request different forms of validation to prove proper rights to request a certificate for your environment.  I also tested the certificate I received from GoDaddy with Remote Configuring AMT clients in SMS and SCCM SP2 environment.

Key items that are detailed in the steps below that were required to get my certificate:

  • Certificate type can now be either the Standard SSL or Premium SSLcertificates – this Standard SLL support is a new product that supports vPro (and it is only $49)
  • Certificate request is for an Organization
  • OU = Intel(R) Client Setup Certificate
  • CN = ServerName.domain.com (this must be the FQDN of the Provisioning Server)
  • Organization = The legal name of your organization that can approve your certificate request
  • Required Documentation to be submitted (Driver's License, Bank Statement, and Approval Letter on Company Letterhead)

STEPS TO PURCHASE THE REMOTE CONFIGURATION CERTIFICATE

  1. Go to GoDaddy Web site: www.godaddy.com (make sure you setup an account with GoDaddy before proceeding: https://idp.godaddy.com/shopper_new.aspx?ci=10530&spkey=GDSWNET-M1PWCORPWEB189)
  2. Login with your GoDaddy Account
  3. Select the SSL & Security Tab and click the SSL Certificates Link: http://www.godaddy.com/ssl/ssl-certificates.aspx
