As I've blogged before, my job takes me to many places and I get see all kinds of cool technology when I get there. This example is no exception, I've put together a short video with Steve Cumings of HP showing a tour of the Performance Optimized DataCenter or abbreviated as "POD". Its actually the same size as a standard container for shipping anywhere around the world. These type of assets are vital in time of need such as disaster recovery. Take a look and let us know how you could use this cool technology.

I was out at HP Tech Forum last week and had a chance to catch up on all the latest technology advancements with HP and Intel. What I saw was staggering, over 17 new HP-Intel designs, the HP Performance Optimized Datacenter (POD), and lot's more that I will be sharing with you in coming days as I add more video from the event and help to tell the story if you couldn't be there. First off, I caught up with John McAtee from Intel's HP account team. He was showing a cool demonstration on why now is the right time to invest in XEON 5500 processor series technology. Check out this video and find out how you can start saving in your datacenter today !

If you want more information on how the XEON 5500 processor series can starting saving in the datacenter, check out this ROI Calculator tool. Sometimes when I come across a story like this, it reminds me how fortunate I am to be in an industry where such amazing technologies continue to emerge. The video below was captured last week at the Oracle Tech Day event at the Oracle Headquarters where I met up with Hamid Djam, Product Manager for the Exadata product and Bob Moore who is the Group Manager at HP for Strategic Marketing & Industry Standard Servers. In this video they are discussing how Oracle & HP teamed up with Intel Quad-Core processors to deliver "The World's Fastest Database" machine. Check out the video, this is cool stuff .

What a fascinating couple of weeks for Intel. The week of Sept 8, my colleagues at Intel and I spent the week in Las Vegas at the SAP TechEd Conference. This show has over 6000 attendees including IT decision makers, developer and partners. I found this audience to be very technical and eager to understand the value of Intel architecture in relation to their SAP deployments. The Intel team stepped up and delivered in many ways to educate this audience that Intel architecture is not only the best solution for mission critical datacenter infrastructure, but that we provide clear TCO benefits to the customer.

We were fortunate to be able to feature the New Intel® Xeon® 7400 processor series via our partners IBM and Vmware. IBM announced a world record 2-tier SD benchmark on the IBM xseries 3950. The result of 9,200 SAP SD Benchmark users was achieved on the IBM System x™ 3950 M2, configured with eight Intel® Xeon® X7460 processors. Absolutely amazing.

One of the best learning experiences from the conference was speaking directly to IT decision makers in fortune 500 companies regarding the value of the Intel® Xeon 7400 series processor in SAP deployments. We were able to alleviate their concerns of HW costs associated w/ migration to ERP 6.0, business value of upgrading hardware and overall show clear TCO benefits of the core micro architecture from Intel. We backed it up with proven examples of TCO savings from multiple companies and even showed how Intel IT itself successfully migrated to ERP 6.0 and minimized business disruption significantly.

I've also had the opportunity to chat with James G. White with HP. Check out the video below to see what HP has to say about Modernizing the SAP Landscape....
