Ok, I will bite. Here is the server for me when I hit my 80's.
It comes down to the needs of people in the 2050's. For my specific needs as I will be in my 80's, it will monitor my blood pressure, my heart rate, and other vitals to keep tabs on my health. It will monitor my general nutrition needs ("you need more vitamin A today") and order up my favorite meal with the required supliments. It will also control my environmental needs. It will likely also be how I receive entertainment... likely via some kind of cranial implant.
That server will be hidden away somewhere and I will likely never even know that it exists. I will simply know that I have conveniences in life because of it.
I forsee the server itself never having been touched by human hands. Manufacturing will have evolved to the point that an order for a datacenter 'module' will be automatically generated when requirements on the 'datacenter' reach some usage limit. The module will consist of compute nodes all integrated and designed such that this entire nodule will simply roll along the manufacturing line from silicon to being plugged into the greater infrastructure.
Upgrades to servers will also be automated, old servers will be harvested for raw materials and get dumped back into the pool for new server modules.
Is anyone else envisioning the scene from The Matrix where the spider-like service machine were checking on their little power sources when they came across an awakened Neo and pulled his plug, then dumped him? :o)
I'm hoping that doesn't take place, but we have to admit to ourselves that we are inspired by our imaginations. Think about how many inventions are probably spawned from the Star Trek TV show. Anyway, now it is your turn.
