Gaming, I believe is the stickiest, most engaging and most interactive form of entertainment in the world today. India today is well poised to be one of the biggest gaming markets in the world. I believe that in the next 3-5 years Gaming will become a mass form of entertainment, similar to what is happening in China and Korea. Also India is at a broadband inflection point and online gaming in India will explode in the next few years.
Presently most hardcore gaming happens from gaming cafes, which are also community hang-outs for the gamers. Popular games are counterstrike, World of Warcraft, FIFA etc. The Indian gamer playing in these games is no less than any other gamer in the world in terms understanding, skill sets and the money that they spend. Casual games in India are mainly consumed from Home and Offices. In the casual games space popular genres are cricket, action and racing. I also believe that in the next few years the biggest growth will come through MMORPGs (Massively Multiplayer Online Role Playing Games), where gamers live in a virtual world and there games have over 100,000 people playing the games concurrently. Therefore with proliferation of more and more Content in the Indian market and the growing Broadband penetration, the future of the Indian gaming market is very bright and it is exciting times for the gamers and aspiring gamers in the country.
So everyone……Get Gaming!!!!
