AMT OU in AD is empty

Hello All,

we are experiencing the following problem:

we have MS SCCM 2007 SP1 R2 central site installed on windows 2008 SP2 enterprise with SQL Server 2008 Enterprise and using internal CA for our AMT machines. We have entered manually the certificate hash in the client machines.
What we experiencing is that we don't see any computer in the AMT OU in AD (it is empty!).
We have successfully provisioned some computers and we can stop and start them using SCCM, but we can't connect to them using the Out of band management console or through the web interface. We have granted full access to the AMT OU and all child objects as required according the documentation for the Primary Site servers group(we have followed Quick Start Install Guide for SCCM SP1 Rev1.9.1 ).
We have made also the required change in the registry according to the KB908209 (for the web based connection) and also tried to start the out of band management console from the central site, where the required patch KB960804 is installed.
A look in the amtopmgr.log give us no error, related to the AMT OU in the AD container. The error in the OOBConsole.log is the following:

When we tested the AMT technology in our test environment, we have in the AMT OU the computers which was provisioned.
So if anyone has a clue how can we solve this problem, please let us know.

We are using internal CA and have entered manually the thumbprint of our Root Test CA. We have tried with different passwords and we are sure that they are the same on both place SCCM and MEBx, but when we are trying to provision the machine we receive the following message:

According to discussions there we have prepared a DHCP server with options 6 and 15 and have checked the DNS server for the forward (A) and reverse (PTR) DNS records for the client and ConfigMgr site server. The certificate templates we have prepared according to the following MS guide: http://technet.microsoft.com/en-us/library/cc161804.aspx

So what we are doing wrong. Can anyone help us in order to solve this problem.

GetAMTPowerState fail with result 0x80072F8F error in OOBConsole.log

Can anyone translate an error 0x80072F8F for me? I'm working trying to get my SCCM SP1 console to be able to connect to provisioned xp machines. I've imported the AMT cert to the system local cert store. The OOBConsole.log is filled with

errors. Nothing else just them. I'm sure I've missed something simple and I can connect to the same workstations with my Vista workstation.

Unable to connect to Provisioned machine with AMT cmdr

Hi,

I've been able to provision a few machines for vPro, but I'm not able to connect. I used a USB key to provision and am able to log on to the client's Mebx (CTRL+P). I created certs on site. We have our own cert creation site (gov). I manually entered the hash in the Mebx. I'm able to provision and re-provision machines without trouble, but just connect connect with the AMT commander to manage remotely. I'm using a domain account with admin priviledges on the server. We are not able to use the AD schema extensions.

Right now the log has an "Exception in set rng key worker: (0xCFFF06AC) SOAP Failure (22): Http error." referencing the machine I provisioned this morning.

Any help or suggestions are greatly appreciated.

Enabling Wired 802.1X Connectivity for Intel® AMT in Microsoft® SCCM SP1 Environment

Intel AMT (the management technology included with Intel vPro platforms) has the capability to authenticate with and connect to 802.1X networks

Microsoft SCCM SP1 natively supports Intel vPro functionality, but does not configure Intel AMT 802.1X connection capability during the provisioning process. This means Intel AMT is unable to connect 'Out of Band' (i.e. without the assistance of the client Operating System) to 802.1X networks when provisioned using Microsoft SCCM SP1

In order to support 'Out of Band' management of Intel vPro platforms using Microsoft SCCM in 802.1X network environments, additional configuration of Intel vPro platforms is required after normal SCCM provisioning has completed. The additional configuration can be performed in an automated manner using scripts (referred to as post provisioning scripts)

The ZIP file attachment contains documentation, sample scripts and a copy of Intel Scripting Framework to create and setup a post provisioning script to configure Intel AMT 802.1X connection capability after normal provisioning by Microsoft SCCM. This example uses EAP-TLS type authentication but could be extended to accommodate other 802.1X protocols supported by Intel AMT

Hello All,

I’m trying to verify if SCCM 2007 SP1 can provision and manage Intel vPro clients

if there are two Certification Authorities and AMT Provisioning certificate is issued by an Internal CA:

Note:

- I'm assuming that Intel supports this scenario

1) Root Enterprise CA

2) Subordinate Enterprise CA (this ca issues AMT Provisioning certificate and AMT Web Server Certificate)

Both ca are Windows Server 2003 Enterprise SP2 based.

This is my lab environments:

· 1 DC Windows Server 2003 SP2 based (this server is also Enterprise Subordinate CA)

· 1 Windows Server 2003 SP2 based (this server is also an Enterprise Root CA)

· 1 SCCM 2007 SP1 Windows Server 2008 SP2 x86 based

· 1 client Windows Vista SP2 Enterprise based (no sccm agent installed)

I would like to use out of band method.

Notes:

· SCCM request certificate to Enterprise Subordinate CA

· In Windows Client I’ve added Enterprise Root CA thumbprint

· Windows Vista client has been imported into SCCM 2007 using Import Out of Band Computer

SCCM 2007 can’t provision this computer.

I've found this message in SCCM amtopmg.log:

Description: A certificate is required to complete client authentication

In attachment there is an extract from amtopmgr.log

Has anybody any ideas ?

AMT machine log data in SCCM DB

My customer is using SCCM SP1 to manage vPro machine. We saw a lot of AMT log data in OOB console, they hoped that they can run a customed report to collect the information and filter some useful information for IT analysis. But they don't know the SCCM SP1 AMT DB structure and whether it was stored in DB. Does anyone know it and can share how to collect the data from DB?

Getting started with AMT, "Active Management Technology is disabled on this computer"

I have just started to evaluate vPro/AMT in a lab environment. I am interested in getting AMT working in and ad-hoc type small business mode (not enterprise provisioned and not using SCCM). I have installed the latest bios on my test machine (hp dc7800), installed "ME 3.2.1", and installed several other Intel components via HP.com.

At this point there is a service listening on port 16992, but when I try to connect to it using IE (example http://localhost:16992/) I get directed to http://localhost:16992/logon.htm, which just renders this string:

Web browser access to Intel® Active Management Technology is disabled on this computer, or the page in the address bar is unavailable.

I tried enabling basic auth on WInRM per another forum post, but not help. I also tried enabling AMT as much as possible in the "control+P" interface.

What am I missing? Thanks

Sidebar question: In the absence of something like SCCM to consume AMT info (small business scenario), what is the main interface/consumer of AMT information meant to be? Is there a management/console app from intel? Is the web interface already referred to above meant to be the main interface/experience?

With SCCM sp1 you can obviously manually initiate a vPro Power Off to a pc in a specific collection but is it possible to incorporate the vPro Power Off command in an SCCM Task Sequence?

If so how?

What vPro management functions cannot be Task Sequenced?

Lenovo M58P's Showing Detected

We are having difficulties provisioning Lenovo M58p workstations with AMT Firmware versions 5.0.2 and 5.0.3. The only way we have successfully provisioned an m58p is by resetting the MEBX from the BRIOS. We continually fail trying to provision via the SCCM agent. We have successfully provisioned other Lenovo models thorugh SCCM. Are there any known issues with M58p's or with firmware versions 5.0.x?

we want to help the EU deploy vPro .The EU's manage console is SMS, the EU use a seperate SMS console which run on different machine with SMS server, there is a firwall between the SMS console and SMS server, my questoin is: if we install the add-on on the console, what port should we open on the firwall except the ports SMS needed?

Power Operations Fail on a Provisioned Computer

I have a vPro client computer with AMT 4.0. It was importeed successfully via the Import OOB Computers wizard, and after sending a "Hello- packet" it became provisioned. (The SCCM GUI displays AMT Status: Provisioned).

I've try to access this machine via Web - UI (https:\\amt4.domaindemo.com:16993) and the Security Alert says that the certificate is valid. Despite that, I get a "Page not found - Web browser access to AMT is disabled on this computer, or the page in the address bar is unavailable" page!!

What should I do???

SOL giving the client monitor a black screen.

The provisioned machine are not able to execute any function from the Out of Band Management Console, when I run any SOL command the monitor will just show a white cursor on the screen. The power control for out of band management are working fine. Below are the screenshots for my problem, does anyone have any idea what causing this?

When execute any command from here the system will reboot and the system just freezed. The monitor gives a black screen with a cursor on it.

I am having trouble provisioning vPro machines, on my SCCM on all system column for AMT Status states as "Detected" after done the Alll system > Out of Band Management > Discover Management Controllers, none of the vpro's are discovered for provisioning, below is the error log from amtopmgr.log. SCCM OOB console issue on remote SCCM console

We successfully provision AMT machine with SCCM and can use SCCM OOB console to manage AMT machine on SCCM server. But we found that we can't use OOB console on remote SCCM console to connect same AMT machine. The status indicate connecting with long time and then disconnted. What's problem on remote SCCM console? Do we need do a special configuration for remote OOB console on remote SCCM console? But strange thing is that I can remote power-on/off/restart AMT machine on remote SCCM console. Of course, it's not done in OOB console.

I have short question for AMT log data in SCCM. I can

use OOB console to connect vPro machine in

SCCM (Build 4.00.6221.1000 or 4.00.6181.1000) and can check AMT logs data in OOB console. Does SCCM record the vPro

AMT log data and write into SCCM Database automatically? If yes, how to general a

summary or report from SCCM console? If no, can we setup in SCCM and

make it happen?

Hi experts,

Now I'm trying to deal with a vPro with AMT 4.0 machine.

I imported it successfully with the "Import OOB Computers" wizard, and it became provisioned after sending a "Hello packet".

(In SCCM GUI the AMT Status in Provisioned).

But when I try to perform power operations on this machine - I don't succeed, with the following lines in the log:

I've tried to access it via Web - UI, the Security Alert message shows that the certificate is valid, but then I get the page - Web Not Found!!

What can be the reason? The provisioning process succeeded!!

After register the SMS server as the AMT machines PET alert listener, the pop-up window said the alert will send to SMS log, but there are too many logs under SMS/LOG, which log will contain the PET alert?

SMS 2003 Add-On + SMB Mode - Is remote management possible?

Hi All.

My environment:

SMS 2003 SP3 + AMT Add-On 5.0.2.8 (No SCS)

Single test PC, HP DC7900 provisioned in SMB (Basic?) mode

I have the SMS Add-On configured with the username and password set up on the test PC. I can web browse to the AMT page on the test PC and the credentials I configured work. Power management etc. works as expected.

My question:

When I try to examine the PC using the SMS console the only option available is to check if the PC is AMT enabled (which when I choose the option reports that the machine is enabled for AMT). Is this expected behaviour? Should I be able to inventory, reset etc with this set-up or do I need a full SCS installation and Enterprise type provisioning? I've spent some time browsing various PDFs but nothing I've read gives an explicit answer.

AMT 3.2.1 provisioning with SCCM SP1

Last week, I freshed some Lenovo KTM8000 vpro machines to AMT 3.21 and provisioning with SCCM SP1. Some of them was successfully provisioned with SCCM SP1, but some of them in SCCM SP1 were showed "detected" and "Unprovisioned". Why same configuration make it difference? what I need to do?

I use Com Port for communications for a test board and the Intel Active Management Technology is using Com Port 3. IS it possible that this is slowing down communications to the test board. It seems after every third or fourth entry in the test board software the system pauses for about 45 seconds for reasponding back, could this be caused by the AMT?
