I think your problem is rather different. In my opinion, the DH67 boards are very stable for Windows 7. I have loaded lots of them with W-7 Professional or HomePremium with no device driver trouble at all.

I just looked at a DH67CL running W-7 Pro with no sound or video cards. Under "Sound, video and game controllers" I see two listings:

- Intel (R) Display Audio

- Realtek High Definition Audio

I wonder if one of your other devices is causing a conflict.

I have the same problem. I am using DH67BL with Win7 64bits. I have used it for an year now, I suddenly lost sound yesterday. I found the driver is corrupted, and tried uninstalling and installing a hundred of times. It does not fixed. In the sound panel, it indicates no sound play device.

Okay, there is no solution.

Intel's website instructs users to download Microsoft's KB901105 update before loading the sound driver, but when I did that I was informed by Windows that the update is older than SP2, so it will not load. Maybe Microsoft forgot to include it in SP2 or maybe this bug will not be solved.

I also tried Major_A's suggestion to download Realtek's driver, but that accomplished nothing.

Now I truly understand what Intel means when its documentation states "The Desktop Board provides minimal BIOS and driver support for the following operating systems: ... XP ..."

P.S. I formatted the drive and started from scratch to make sure my old drivers were not interfering.

Thanks for the Realtek link.

And yes, I know that the driver is from Realtek. How could I miss the installer warnings?

The other thing I need to try is the Microsoft update mentioned on Intel's website.

I am confused by your question. Are you asking if the same driver works on XP Pro 32 bit, as compared to the XP Pro 64-bit I was asking about?

Intel only has one driver for XP on their website.

I also have XP Pro 32-bit loaded as a multi-boot on the same system and the sound driver installed okay.

This is from Realtek's site, and FYI your board uses the Realtek ALC892 codec.

Okay, I realize that XP has minimal support on DH67 and later chipsets. That said, I expect basic stuff to work.

I have installed lots of Intel motherboards and I know the drill: load the OS and then Intel's chipset, management engine, and NIC drivers from the disc. Then let Windows Update do its thing. Then visit Intel's website and install the latest NIC, management engine, sound, desktop utilities, graphics (assuming Windows Update didn't do it), and USB.3.0 (if applicable) drivers.

I have a booting disk with XP Pro 64-bit, with the Intel hardware being DH67BL / i5-2500K. Installation of everything went okay except for the sound driver. After installing the sound driver, Device Manager has a yellow '!' under "Other Devices -> Audio Device on High Definition Audio Bus". Clicking on the dialog informs me that "The drivers for this device are not installed. (Code 28)".

As I said, I've been here before. I know to grab the proper driver for the OS, in this case XP Pro 64-bit. So I did it again: visited intel.com, downloaded the proper sound driver, and installed it. Still the yellow '!'. I even tried to have Device Manager search through the DH67BL CDROM to see if that would help, but Windows could not find an appropriate driver on the disc.

So am I screwed with respect to the sound driver or is there some trick I need to employ?
