Paul_P,

Thank you for your help. I did try dropping the resolution, but wasn't certain which resolution was necessary. At first, when everything was working, my laptop resolution would automatically change as soon as it connected. It no longer does that. I tried all of the resolutions available, but always got only the black screen. I did make the resolution change after it was connected though.

Of the 4 secondary display options, I tried 3 of them:

Disconnect (I tried this - blank screen, as expected)

Duplicate (I tried this - still blank screen, not expected)

Extend (I tried this - still blank screen, not expected)

Projector only (I didn't try this - was afraid I wouldn't be able to get back to normal)

I have not tried connecting the laptop physically to the TV.

I talked with Sony support - spent over an hour with them. They uninstalled, re-installed, restored original version (using a sony app) of things, but could not get it to work. Eventually my support person gave up, and said I would need to talk to more advanced support. I have not yet called them.

So then I did a system restore. I restored my system to the date before I ran the update. It is now working again!! But, I fear that as soon as those updates are again installed, it will again stop working. Now that it is working, is there anything I can do that might help diagnose the problem?

Adam,

Thanks for the reply. Have you tried dropping the resolution on your laptop? Also have you tried using the extended display feature in Windows 7? After you connect the laptop to the TV it will show up as a secondary display and instead of duplicating the image you can extend the desktop to the second display. You would then be able to leave the laptop display set to the max resolution and drop the resolution on the secondary display (TV). Also have you tried connecting the laptop to the TV physically to see if the same thing happens?

The reason I ask is that the issue you are having sounds similar to connecting a laptop to a projector that does not support higher resolutions. Because you are getting audio it would seem that you are successfully connecting, but the TV is unable to display the image that is being sent to it.

Thanks,

Paul

Intel® Product Support Engineer

From the sound of it you may have tried part of what I am going to suggest already. I would recommend that you Download the latest drivers and software for all of the Intel® products involved. Here is a link to the download page, http://www.intel.com/support/wireless/wtech/iwd/sb/CS-031109.htm.

You will see that each step is lined out for you in the order that your computer will need to be updated. I would recommend following those steps to see if your issues is resolved. If you could please, run through those steps and let me know if that worked for you.

I am suggesting this because I have seen instances in the past where once one product is updated there are issues with the others because of installation order.

Thanks and I hope this helps,

Paul

Intel® Product Support Engineer
