the steps before this didnt help the case that i encountered with Asus P67 and H67 boards.

check your bios if there is a Hot Plug setting.

Enabling hot plugging for the SATA ports somehow cleared the way for 10.1.0.1008 to install without a hitch

anyone knows why?

No shakes here. I can install the Matrix software but not the Rapid Storage, even trying the workarounds here.

Thanks for the workaround (I had happened to use a new version of the chipset driver too).

For anyone who wants to play with a newer RST, there's a newer one here (v10.5.0.1022). I have no idea why or if it works around the problem. I just post it here as FYI.

Recognize that this post has received more than 3000 views. Obviously, other users are running into the same problem. Yet, Intel mentions nothing about the problem.......except to revert back to the older version

I'll explain again with some more details

Download 10.1.0.1008 drivers that are intended for F6 installation (floppy) depending on your system that would be either 64 or 32 bi
- 64bit driver http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?lang=eng&DwnldID=19601
- 32bit driver http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=19599
Unpack downloaded files to preferred folder
Go to Device Manager >Storage Controllers>Intel; then double-click go to driver’s tab click update driver and browse to you extracted files
After update finished restart your system
Download http://downloadcenter.intel.com/Detail_Desc.aspx?agr=Y&DwnldID=19607
Install it
This time should install without any problems – at least worked for me.

Note: Both RST and the driver are the same version 10.1.0.1008

I want to make sure I've got this right. Did you download the followingn as the driver:

Intel® RST Driver Files (for version 10.1) - F6 Install (64-bit)

Intel® Rapid Storage Technology 10.1.0.1008 files for 64-bit OS - used to preinstall RAID driver (F6 during Windows* setup),

Date 12/15/2010 Version 10.1.0.1008..

After the driver was installed, which RST file did you install?

I did not update the INF utility. I was using ver 9.1.1.1025. Did you have the same problem using INF Update utility ver 9.2.0.1011?

For anyone interested I have figured out a workaround!

Procedure that worked for me is as follows:

download driver only (unpack)
update drivers via Device Manager (from your computer)
restart your PC
now try to install RST
it worked for me

I have exactly the same problem.

"An error occurred while registering one or more components. Setup will exit."

No way to update RST for me so far.... Intel seem not to care about this...
