Problem solved! It was a bit of a hassel but I finally got Windows7 to boot from my X25. I had a bunch of SATA drives in RAID mode connected to my MB (Asus Striker Extreme) and needed to disconnected them first and disabled the RAIDsetup in the Bios. I upgraded the firmware on the X25 drive and voila! Windows7 accepted the X25 as installable target. After W7setup I reconnected the SATA drives and enabled RAIDmode only for the SATA drives. (Don't forget to check your HD boot priority in your Bios because it might change when reconnecting the SATA drives). Funny thing though, the Intel SSD toolkit still can't connect to my X25.

I have the same issue with my X25-M on Intel ICH10R chipset. I bought this drive to use it as system disk, and now I'm really disapointed. Why no one from Intel has responded to this thread yet? This drives are not cheap and I want my money back!

I have one time faced the same problem that the system could not see my SSD, then I used killdisk to arase all data in the drive, it then was recognized as a normal drive. May be you should try.

Try connecting the drive to one of the chipset's SATA ports and not one for a separate RAID controller.

I've got exactly the same problem. The X25 SSD operates just fine in conjunction with Win7 when Win7 boots from S-ATA HDD. When booting from Win7 DVD for installation purpose the X25 SSD is not recognized. (it is not shown in the list of HDD's). Might it have something to with the protocols used by the X25? At powerup the MotherBoard shows that the SSD uses SCSI while all other drives use S-ATA. The SSD is connected to a Sil3132 e-SATA controller (which is integrated on the Mother Board). When connecting a regular S-ATA drive to the Sil3132 the Win7 installation DVD installs without much hassel.

Stamatisx, thanks for he suggestions. I really think this is something for Intel and MS to solve - this should work out of the box.

good idea, I already think about this but I can't find any older firmware release file on intels website. Do you have an suitably download link?

Can you flash the SSD with a different firmware and try again? I run out of ideas
