Our team is responsible for supporting the Manageability Developer tool Kit, I am sorry you expierenced this issue and more sorry we missed the support request. If you are still experiencing this issue please respond to this thread and/or contact us directly at support_dopd_swe@intel.com. There are some setup steps that aren't always obvious in the Commander tool that I will go collect and supply if you require. We do have some open issues on the Redirection process open against Commander that this may be related to. I am working to get an update to the tool suite scheduled.

While I haven't done this, in theory it is certainly possible since you can:

1) Connect to the client using a management console LANDesk, Altiris, MS SMS, etc. (I'll use our example console, Manageability Commander here)

- ensure the client is powered on and we'll assume the OS is happy (an agent can help here, like Manageability Outpost)

2) Start a Mangeability Terminal session

3) Upload you new BIOS exetuable to the client

4) Start the BIOS update process from w/in the terminal session (the agent/outpost may make this easier too)

5) Count to 300, watch the system power state in terminal, or watch the process using the agent (like Outpost) as this is a pretty blind process

6) I am pretty sure your connection to the client will be un-gracefully terminated during this process, so a reboot of your mangement console may be required

7) Reconnect to the client, run the terminal session and boot to BIOS to verify update was successful.

I'll put this on my list to test list and try it on the bench in the coming days and will report back. I recommend not trying this in a production environment until you are confident the process works..

Hi Paolo,

I represent the team that produced AMT Reflector. We're attempting to replicate the issue you describe about getting an error when trying to SET the AMT host name. Can you describe the difference / additions in your configuration to that described in our intro video & guide document (available here --> http://communities.intel.com/docs/DOC-1431).

We are pleased to announce the upcoming release of the Intel(r) vPro(tm)Packet Decoder. This tool can be used for:

•A debug tool for development and testing, -help root-cause issues.

•Developers and validation teams can easily decipher and interpret AMT traffic.

•Tool can be used to help accelerate activation of installed Intel vPro clients.

Description of the tool:

The Intel(R) vPro(tm)Packet Decoder is a debug / test tool for capturing and decoding AMT commands that are sent between, a management console and an Intel AMT platform. This application is designed to work either on the same system as the management console or on a separate system on the same local network as the console and the Intel AMT platform it manages. The Intel vPro Packet Decoder provides the ability to capture the Intel AMT commands sent between the management console and the AMT platforms it manages. The details of these packets are then decoded for viewing as a request - response pair.

We have posted this tool in the resources section of the Intel vPro Expert Center under resource document #1302.
