I have the same problem on Windows 8 x64 on an Alienware M18xR2 laptop.

I wasn't able to recover, refresh, or restore. I had to do a complete reinstall.

I really wish Intel would address what are obviously problematic drivers.

On another note, the Alienware drives from Dell are installed. I need the RST client software to migrate the OS that is on a single SSD to two RAID 0 SSDs. The OS was installed with RAID configured in the BIOS.

Is the RST client available separate from the drivers? Is there other software that works with the RST drivers?

Problem solved. I disabled the on board VGA.

OK, that's a start. I went to Wikipedia and read up on the difference between XPDM and WDDM.

It appears that there is no WDDM driver for the ES1000/Radeon 7000. ATI stopped supporting these.

So is there a way to completely disable the onboard graphics and use an add in graphics card?

Or am I completely out of luck?

This is because it seems that the driver for the embedded ATI ES1000 takes priority over the WDDM for the nVidia card.

So this won't work.

I must be missing something. When I open up that document on page 58 it does list one of the cards that I have plugged in.

I've update the board's BIOS to R0101

I've updated the nVidia drivers.

Tried three different monitors.

Still no video out from the addon graphics cards.

Please. Please Please.

Does anyone from Intel know how to fix this?

Some additional information from GPU-Z, it does look like their is some issue with the nVidia cards. I don't know if its the nVidia drivers or the Intel motherboard drivers. The clocks for the nVidia cards show 0? Anyone got a clue as to what is wrong?

The onboard video works fine. I've tried 4 different video cards and can not get any video output from any of them. They are all recognized by the OS.
