Re: Intel SE7520AF - 84F2 Baseboard Management Controller failed to respond

We have a brand new out of the box SC5300LX with an SE7520AF2 MB. During the post we get an error that says:

"PCI vendor and Device IDs do not match"

Also, the BMC does not appear to be found. We flashed the bios using the above method and then hit option #8 and then option #2 to see teh versions of teh various firmware as noted above. At this point we receive the message " Can"t find a BMC interface to use"

The IMM card that was bundles with the server is mounted and attached to the mainboard.

Any PCI-X card inserted is not found, as well as the on-board NIC. Also, on boot most of teh PCI-x and PCI-e slots wild have both green adn amber lights next to them... eventually all lights go out except for teh green and amber on the second PCI-x slot. Both LEDs stay on regardless.

Nothing we can do in BIOS seems to have an impact - NIC is enabled but it still won't show in Windows. No PCI cards will show (NIC, RAID).

When trying to update the firmware using the newest SUP ISO the IMM fails with "error 17" and the BMC also fails. The main BIOS did update.

Any thoughts would be really appreciated. We are building this server for a charity and they have very little budget and we are donating our time.

THanks in advance for any thoughts...

NEW SE7520AF with BMC issue

Hello!

We have a new SC5300LX with an SE7520AF MB. Out of teh box we downloaded the newest SUP iso and tried to update the various firmware. During POST there is a warning that says:

PCI VENDOR AND DEVICE IDs DO NOT MATCH

Both the onboard NICS and any PCI-x cards inserted are never found and if we run teh platform confidence test the BMC fails. If we try to update the BMC by booting from teh SUP iso we get an "error 17 INVALID ARGUMENT"

Is the BMC toast or are we not updating the firmware correctly?

We have the latest main BIOS and have reset the CMOS jumper several times correctly but this has had no impact. I find it very unlikely that this would be bad hardware on a system that is brand new..

Any thoughts would be really appreciated.

Thank you!
