Charlie one of the first things you should is update your BIOS the one you have now is from Feb 2007?? The current BIOS is for Oct 5 2009 BIOS # 6100 . I will leave it up to you how you do the update. Different People have different choices as which is better. ? The next thing I would is go to Microsoft and run the Windows Test to see if your board will Pass the compatability test . Than see where you are ?

Sorry I did not notice according to that it sholud work , But still only at 800 Mhz because Ram is DDR2-800. Unless there is a BIOS update that will allow for 1066 Mhz . Than you could change the ram to match the CPU .

Yes But that means you have to run the Q6600 at 800Mhz. what a loss?

Have you tried the sys with a add on graphics card , that should tell you weather it's the CPU or some other problem when you install a add on card you can go into the BIOS and choose to use the add on card if everything is OK than you know it's the CPU .

The 965 only supports FSB of 800 the Q6600 is 1066 FSB will not work.

What Ram are you using the Q6600 has a 1066 FSB , So if the Ram does not match you will have problems.

In a word NO , you can't run 64Bit on a 478 board . Best to get new boards . there are still lots of 775 boards out there cheap .

If you are only using two Ram sticks you have to use slot # one and slot # two , any other config. will not work .
