      <title>BSOD with Intel 82801G (ICH7Family) Ultra ATA Storage controller - 27DF</title>

      <description>&lt;!-- [DocumentBodyStart:1968a71c-03df-4cbd-a4bb-2f5ac2eb402b] --&gt;&lt;div class="jive-rendered-content"&gt;&lt;p&gt;Hello,&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; I am at my wits end with this having tried everything I can think of.&amp;nbsp; I am using a Gateway LT20 Netbook with the following hardware configuration:&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;div id="_mcePaste"&gt;Gateway / ACER LT20 Netbook &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div id="_mcePaste"&gt;Mobile Intel 945 Express Chipset&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div id="_mcePaste"&gt;Dual Intel Atom CPU N270 @1.60GHz&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Windows XP Pro SP3&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Currently in Windows XP Professional I can only use IDE mode for my Seagate SATA hard drive (model ST9160314AS 160 GB)&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;If I go into the BIOS and select AHCI it causes an instant blue screen when I try to load windows.&amp;nbsp; I have isolated the problem to&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;the Intel 82801G (ICH7Family) Ultra ATA Storage controller - 27DF but here is the rub.&amp;nbsp; If I use the Windows Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller v51.2600.5512 for this device all is fine, I just get a blue screen when trying to use AHCI mode in the bios.&amp;nbsp; But if use the either of the following drivers&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;supplied by INTEL (see below) I get a blue screen of death in Windows no matter *what* mode I use (AHCI or IDE).&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Intel 82801G (ICH7 Family) Ultra Storage Controllers - 27DF v7.0.0.1020&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Intel 82801G (ICH7 Family) Ultra Storage Controllers - 27DF v8.2.0.1011&lt;/div&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;The disk is *dog* slow and takes forever to boot up using only the crippled old Windows Standard Dual Channel IDE driver and every other part of the Intel Chipset has been updated &lt;strong&gt;save for this one driver&lt;/strong&gt; which causes the major show stopping BSOD.&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Here is what we have under Devices in Windows:&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div id="_mcePaste"&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div id="_mcePaste"&gt;ACPI Multiprocessor PC&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div id="_mcePaste"&gt;&amp;nbsp; Microsoft ACPI-Compliant System&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div id="_mcePaste"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; PCI bus&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div id="_mcePaste"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; Intel 82801G (ICH7Family) Ultra ATA Storage controller - 27DF&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div id="_mcePaste"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; - Primary IDE Channel&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div id="_mcePaste"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp;&amp;nbsp; - ST9160314AS&amp;nbsp; (seagate 160 GB SATA drive)&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt;Here are the list of drivers I have (copied from your site and Gateways)&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div id="_mcePaste"&gt; &lt;/div&gt;&lt;div id="_mcePaste"&gt;Intel 82801G (ICH7 Family) Ultra Storage Controllers - 27DF 7.0.0.1020&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div id="_mcePaste"&gt;Intel 82801G (ICH7 Family) Ultra Storage Controllers - 27DF 8.2.0.1011&lt;/div&gt;&lt;div id="_mcePaste"&gt;Standard Dual Channel PCI IDE Controller 51.2600.5512&lt;/div&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;ONLY the last one works and as stated cripples the system with the IDE bottleneck.&amp;nbsp; Question: do you have a driver that works for XP in this?&amp;nbsp; This is your Intel chipset product and the driver you are shipping causes XP to Blue screen and be unusable.&amp;nbsp; Do you have a driver for this that works???&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;!-- [DocumentBodyEnd:1968a71c-03df-4cbd-a4bb-2f5ac2eb402b] --&gt;</description>
