Since my last post, I noticed Microsoft release a new Intel HD Graphics family driver 8.15.10.2509 (8/31/2011). Since installing that driver and rebooting, I was still not able using the Integrated Graphics selection to make and keep a connection to the PTV2000 to work with a Samsung 1080p TV. But, if I start the WiDi application by selecting to use the High-Performance (NVida) graphics adapter, I was now able to connect and maintain the connection to the PTV2000. It now turns the screen black and I can now see a arrow cursor which I can move around. The PTV2000 indicated that there was a firmware update, which I then was able to successfully install. After rebooting the PTV2000, I recieved the same behavior as described above.

Close, but not yet there completely !

I've tried both the suggestion of starting the WiDi software with both the Integrated Graphics and the High-Performance (NVidia) menu picks without any

success. I've noticed that if I tried repeatedly, I something will get it to connect, but nothing is displayed on the TV and the WiDi software no longer responds. At this point, I must kill the processes and typically must reboot the laptop in order to be able to attempt to start the WiDi software again.

Based on a reply in Netgear's forum for the PTV2000, I tried the same experiement on a Sony Bravia (720p) and a Samsung (1080p) TV with the exact same results. Reported in the Netgear forum is that the PTV2000 only works with TV that can do 1080p.

Not sure what to try next?
