Hi, I found this step-by-step guide, of how to prepare a USB 3.0 key to be used to install Windows 7.

Apparently it enables the higher speed of USB 3.0 during the process.

Language is german, but I think the images show pretty good how it is supposed to work.

to 1. This is a minor issue that happens only very rare and can actually be neglected.

to 2. This I don' t understand. How would BIOS cause the CPU to work harder while all it does is to display some readings?

Hi,

I have this Mini ITX Board in use since a few days now.

So far I have not encountered significant problems.

Updated the BIOS from:

KCH7710H.86A.0069.2012.0224.1825 - Date of manufacture: 03 SEP 2012

KCH7710H.86A.0104.2012.1123.1027

Issue 1

Sometimes the mouse pointer is frozen after I boot up the system.

I then need to unplug the USB plug and put it back to make it work again.

Issue 2

Why does the CPU temperature in BIOS show 45 C while Open Hardware Monitor shows around 31 C?

Issue 3

Is it still ok if one of the sockets is that loose?

Hi endless,

I have ordered the Intel DH77DF together with the i5 3570K just today.

Still have the DH67CF with the i5 2500K in use which I'm actually very happy with.

I'm curious about the future of Mini iTX with Haswell, the successor of Ivy Bridge.

There are going to be new mainboards with 1150 sockets. Exciting times ahead.

does anyone know how to install Windows 7 or 8 using the higher transfer speed of a USB 3.0 key with an Intel DH77DF mainboard?

As far as I know the procedure differs between Windows 7 and 8. If you know of an easy to follow step-by-step guide, please let me know.

1x = 1.39 MB/s

2x = 2.77 MB/s

4x = 5.54 MB/s

6x = 8.31 MB/s

8x = 11.08 MB/s

10x = 13.58 MB/s

12x = 16.62 MB/s

16x = 22.16 MB/s

18x = 24.93 MB/s

20x = 27.70 MB/s

USB 2.0

effective throughput up to 35 MB/s
actual transfer speeds are usually much lower, from a few MB/s upwards

USB 3.0

theoretical maximum transmission speed of up to 625 MB/s
actual transfer speeds are usually much lower, from about 40 MB/s to 170 MB/s

Hi, I contacted the buyer of this board (via eBay), just to ask whether he was able to fix it. He replied, the backside of the board had some resistors ripped off. He tried to soldier them back on but it didn't work. I'm glad I didn't buy this - the seller was liar.

Hi,

I asked the seller that very question by email yesterday. Today I received a reply.

He said, that he bought the board second hand while it was broken already.

The seller has not contacted Intel and as far as he knows, the previous owner did neither.

He suggested me to buy the board and contact Intel by myself.

Well, that all sounds pretty weird. On the other hand, the broken board is a real bargain.

By the way, he has given me the following details:

SN = BTDF21500047

Batch = CNBT24E01P

Is there anything I can check?

EDIT: Hi, I've just spoken with Intel Customer Services.

A man said that I will not be able to use the warranty as it's only between the original buyer and Intel.

He suggested to not buy the board.

Hi, I have been offered a dead Intel DH77DF in as good as new condition for little money. The seller stated to have bought it in April 2012 and it never worked. When he turns it on, it attempts to start but then turns off again by itself. Do you think it could be fixed by flashing the BIOS probably? Just wonder if I should buy or not.

I was thinking of that as well.

Haswell will need a new socket 1150 and a new design of motherboard.

It's being said that the IGP will have at least 24 execution units. HD4000 has 16 and HD3000 only 12.

Apparently it will be available for desktops much later than expected.

I don't think there's a noticeable difference in performance nor temperature development between the 2500K and 3570K. And neither would 16GB RAM instead of 8GB make any difference as my system utilizes only up to 50% of my current 8GB RAM. Afaik the only differences between DH67CF and DH77DF are a new BIOS interface and quality capacitors. So you're right, a new system doesn't really make sense.

Although I don't expect a big difference, I still plan to get the SSD Samsung 830 (256GB) soon because it will be phased out from November 2012 onwoards to be replaced by the successor 840 Series.
