      <description>&lt;!-- [DocumentBodyStart:dc2ee7d9-ccb0-46d9-9396-d350acaa3676] --&gt;&lt;div class="jive-rendered-content"&gt;&lt;h5&gt;Nadine Abbas&lt;/h5&gt;&lt;p&gt;Nadine Abbas earned a Bachelor of Engineering (BE) degree in Computer and Communication Engineering (CCE) from Notre Dame University (NDU) with the highest distinction in 2008. In the same year, she got the Engineering Innovation Award from NDU. She joined the Master of Engineering (ME) program in the Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) Department at American University of Beirut (AUB) in 2008 and earned her degree in 2011. Her ME involved Software systems and Networks as majors and Communication as minor. Her thesis entitled "Advanced WiMAX Simulator with Optimal Downlink Burst Construction" and her research work was under the supervision of Prof. Hazem Hajj. Her thesis addressed two main objectives: building a simulator that measures Quality of Service (QoS) of WiMAX networks, and providing a solution for the downlink burst construction optimization problem that maximizes the energy efficiency and resources utilization.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;She is currently a MER graduate intern working in the Wireless Communications Lab of Intel Labs under the supervision of Nageen Himayat and the manager Kirk Skeba. Her research focuses on power and energy efficiency in heterogeneous networks that supports intelligent multi-radio networking. Her aim is to design energy efficient cross-layer solutions with simultaneous use of WiFi and 4G links.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h5&gt;Abdallah Abdelaziz&lt;/h5&gt;&lt;p&gt;Abdullah Abdulslam earned his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Communication and Electronics from Fayoum University in July, 2010. He then joined Nile University (Sept. 2010) as a research assistant. He is also doing his M.Sc. degree in the microelectronics system design at Nile University. He&amp;#8217;s currently a student intern working in Power delivery team in the Circuit Research Lab at Intel. He is working on designing digital controllers for DC-DC power converters.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;His research interests are: Field programmable analog array (FPAA), power converters and Power distribution networks (PDNs).&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h5&gt;Ramy Awwad&lt;/h5&gt;&lt;p&gt;Ramy Awwad got his Bachelor of Engineering in communication engineering and electronics from Beirut Arab University BAU in 2009. He joined the Master of Electrical and Computer Engineering program at the American University Of Beirut AUB in 2010. He worked as a research assistant under the supervision of Prof. Hazem Hajj in the field of data mining and image processing. Ramy&amp;#8217;s research interests are in power-aware algorithms, efficient edge detection and image processing approaches, natural language processing as data mining and machine learning algorithms. Ramy is currently doing his internship at Intel Corporation. He is working for NTG group on optimizing power delivery system. As a part of his project he is working on integrating solar energy for battery charging for tablet and platform and on the battery charging profile.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h5&gt;Louma Chaddad&lt;/h5&gt;&lt;p&gt;Louma Chaddad earned her Bachelor degree in Computer and Communications Engineering from the Lebanese University in 2010. She joined the Master of Engineering program at American University of Beirut (AUB). She worked as a graduate and research assistant under the supervision of Prof. Ayman Kayssi, Prof. Imad El Hajj and Prof. Ali Chehab. Her research field is in Industrial Security including testing the vulnerabilities of Omron PLCs to different types of attacks. She expects to get her ME degree in 2012. She is currently an MER graduate intern working for Netbook and Tablet Group under the supervision of Harikumar Ajay and Prakash Gyan. Louma started her internship by working on performance measurements project and now she moved to work on content protection HW/SW for media and games and on cryptographic performance evaluations.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h5&gt;Layale Constantine&lt;/h5&gt;&lt;p&gt;Layale Constantine received her bachelor degree with high distinction in Computers and Communications Engineering from the American University of Beirut (AUB) in June 2010. She joined the master program at the same university in October 2010 and started her research about emotion recognition and context awareness with Professor Hazem Hajj. She is currently a MER graduate intern at Intel Corporation working on her master thesis with the Interaction and Experience Research (IXR) group at Intel Labs under the supervision of Lama Nachman. Her thesis involves enabling an introspection tool that would capture the dynamic behavior of the users in their interaction with their digital devices and would give them insights accordingly into their personal triggers of emotional changes during this interaction. Layale also worked as an intern at the German Aerospace Center, Navigation department in summer 2009 and at Invigo Corporation in Lebanon in summer 2010. She also worked as a teaching assistant at AUB from 2008 to 2010. Due to her interest in mobile applications development, she worked on free lance projects in the apps industry for Nokia and blackberry smartphones in 2010. As for her social activities, Layale was an active member of IEEE student branch at AUB and IEEE Women in Engineering during her undergraduate studies. She has a paper published in the 10&lt;sup&gt;th&lt;/sup&gt; FEA Conference at AUB about her undergrad final year project on LTE and WiMAX co-deployment in Lebanon and has recently submitted a paper to the IEEE Pervasive computing conference that surveys the latest work on emotion recognition from physiology.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h5&gt;Omar Eldash&lt;/h5&gt;&lt;p&gt;Omar Eldash earned his Bachelor of Engineering degree in Communication and Electronics from Fayoum University with highest distinction and ranked the 1&lt;sup&gt;st&lt;/sup&gt; of his class. He then joined Nile University (Sept. &amp;#8217;09) in Microelectronics System Design program as a research assistant. His research work focus is on Network on Chips and 3D Memory organization under supervision of prof. Amr Wassal. He&amp;#8217;s currently an MER graduate intern working in Power delivery team in Circuit Research Lab. Research focus on solar power conversion for stable power source and battery charging systems.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;His research interests are: Power/Temperature aware mapping, Network-on-Chips, 3D ICs, new memory technologies and Power delivery for different types of sources.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h5&gt;Ayman Eltaliawy&lt;/h5&gt;&lt;p&gt;Ayman Eltaliawy received his B.Sc. degree in the field of Microelectronics and Telecommunication Engineering from Ain Shams University (ASU) in June 2010, Egypt. Since September 2010, he joined Nile University, Egypt, as a Research Assistant , He is also doing his M.Sc. degree in the Microelectronics System Design (MSD) at Nile University. His research interests in All digital/Mixed signal Phase Locked Loops (Design and integration), Switched Capacitor Amplifier Design, Low Power VLSI Design and Analog/Digital Oscillator Design. Currently he is an MER student intern in PC client Platform Group(PCCG) at Intel, OR. he is working in MEMS front end circuit design, Physical integration with characterization for an all digital Phase Locked Loop project.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h5&gt;Furkan Ercan&lt;/h5&gt;&lt;p&gt;Furkan recieved his B.S. degree in Electric and Electronics Engineering from METU Northern Cyprus Campus (METU NCC) in 2011. During his education, he focused on computer architecture, power consumption, and asynchronous logic design. Currently, he is a MER intern at Intel Labs. The project Furkan is currently conducting is about an integrated CPU and memory energy management policy on server architectures, and his supervisor is Neven Abou Gazala. During his undergraduate education, he conducted internships in TEIAS and ASELSAN regarding high power transmission and military radio communication data transfer optimization, respectively. He also conducted research assistantship regarding asynchronous hardware sorter design and teaching assistantship in logic design course. He was also the founder branch chairman of METU NCC IEEE Student Branch. After his internship, Furkan will start the Sustainable Environment and Energy Systems (SEES) master program in METU NCC. He enjoys swimming, poetry, classical Turkish music, photography and playing Native American Flute.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h5&gt;Nadine Hajj&lt;/h5&gt;&lt;p&gt;Nadine Hajj earned her bachelor of Engineering in Electrical and Computer Engineering (ECE) from the Lebanese University in July 2010. She then joined the Master of Engineering (ME) program at the American University of Beirut (AUB) and occupied the position of research assistant under the supervision of Prof. Mariette Awad. Her research area includes pattern recognition, signal processing and control systems.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Currently she is a MER graduate intern in the Efficient Computing Lab of Intel Labs under the supervision of Chris Wilkerson working on low power speech recognition systems.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h5&gt;Ahmad El Youssef&lt;/h5&gt;&lt;p&gt;Ahmad is a third year undergraduate student in the Department of Electrical and Computer Engineering at the American University of Beirut in Lebanon. His research supervisor at AUB is Prof. Mohammad Mansour. Ahmad is broadly interested in Computer architecture and digital system design. He previously worked on developing android applications.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;He is currently doing an internship at Intel Corporation. He is working for Intel labs under the supervision of Douglas Carmean. He is developing a model for architectural power optimization and will build a software framework for power optimizations.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h5&gt;Ozgen Lacin&lt;/h5&gt;&lt;p&gt;Ozgen Sumer LACIN graduated from Middle East Technical University Northern Cyprus Campus (METU NCC) in 2011. He got his BSc from Electrical and Electronics Engineering Department. In his senior year, he focused on Power System Analysis, Power Electronics and Signals and Systems. Currently, Ozgen is a MER graduate intern at Intel Corporation working on Memory Bandwidth and Performance measurements for different platforms in the Network and Tablets Group (NTG) under the supervision of Ajay HARIKUMAR. Previously, He also worked as an intern in ASELSAN Inc., TURKCELL and TURK TELEKOM. His internship in ASELSAN was about Analog Circuit Design and power system analysis of switching circuits. As for his work in the two other communication companies, it was focused on radio network planning and on acquiring the basics for establishing base stations in a mobile network. After completing his internship in Intel Corporation, Ozgen will continue his master degree in Electric and Electronics Engineering Department in METU.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h5&gt;Sertac Olgunsoylu&lt;/h5&gt;&lt;p&gt;Sertac received his B.S. degree in Computer Engineering from METU (Middle East Technical University) in 2011. During last year of his education, he worked as a student researcher under the supervision of Dr. Erol Sahin in KOVAN Research Lab. Currently; he is a MER intern at Software and Services Group working on Intel Atom Platforms&amp;#8217; performance analysis and optimizations. He is specifically working on Perceptual Computing software stacks under the supervision of Rania Elnaggar. During his undergraduate education, he conducted internships in SRDC and KOVAN Research Lab. After completing his internship in Intel Corporation, Sertac will continue his master degree in Computer Engineering Department in METU.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h5&gt;Dincer Ozcan&lt;/h5&gt;&lt;p&gt;Dincer received his bachelor degree in Electrical and Electronic Engineering from Middle East Technical University, Turkey in 2011. During his undergraduate education, his focus was on Computer Architecture and Computer Networks. In addition to his undergraduate program, he conducted internships at Turkish Aerospace Industries and Aselsan. His goal of study during these internship programs was about hardware design using hardware description language. He attended a young talent program at Vodafone Turkey and worked on computer network design. Currently, he is working as MER intern at Intel and working on power and performance analysis of Intel processors. After completing MER program, Dincer will return to Middle East Technical University to start his master program.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h5&gt;Hossam Sarhan&lt;/h5&gt;&lt;p&gt;Hossam Sarhan received his B.Sc. degree in electronics and communications engineering from Alexandria University, Egypt. Since September 2009, he joined Nile University, Egypt, as a Research Assistant. He is also doing his M.Sc. degree in the microelectronics system design at Nile University. Currently, he is a student intern in the low power team in the Circuit Research Lab at INTEL, OR. His research include on-chip DC-DC converters analysis and design, power/delay analytical modeling and 3D networks-on-chip.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;h5&gt;Elie Shaccour&lt;/h5&gt;&lt;p&gt;Elie Shaccour, fresh graduate from the American University of Beirut in Electrical and Computer Engineering with concentration on Architecture/Hardware. He has been part of the MER Program ever since it was established back in 2009. This is currently his second internship at Intel. He has been working on workload characterization in collaboration with an Intel supervisor since September 2010 and it was decided to further develop/expand the tool with Intel experts/technologies.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Elie will be starting his Master's degree in Electrical Engineering this spring and plans to continue to do research with Intel. He is interested in most &amp;lsquo;architectural-level&amp;#8217; research studies, has worked on several such studies, and can easily adapt to any topic in that field.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;!-- [DocumentBodyEnd:dc2ee7d9-ccb0-46d9-9396-d350acaa3676] --&gt;</description>

Acar is a professor at the Department of Business Administration, Middle East Technical University (METU), Ankara. He has earned his BS degree from METU, and MS and Ph.D. degrees from University of Pennsylvania, Philadelphia. His areas of interest are strategic management, entrepreneurship, and quantitative management techniques. He has extensive contract research experience, and provided management training and consultancy services to a wide array of private and public sector organizations. He has been chair/member of the board of directors of several organizations and companies.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;At METU, he has served as chair of the Department of Business Administration, Dean of the Faculty of Economics and Administrative Sciences, Vice-President, and founding President of the METU North Cyprus Campus. In August 2008, he was appointed as President of METU.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p style="min-height: 8pt; height: 8pt; padding: 0px;"&gt;&amp;nbsp;&lt;/p&gt;&lt;p&gt;Dr. Acar has received several national and international awards including Honorary Doctorate from the State University of New York, and the Order of the Star of Italian Solidarity (Commander) from the Republic of Italy.&lt;/p&gt;&lt;/div&gt;&lt;!-- [DocumentBodyEnd:11387090-0344-421e-8275-eed04b74db7c] --&gt;</description>
