As part of a program to continuously increase computing power and reduce energy consumption at its green data center in Grenoble, France, Business & Decision Group recently trialed the benefits of consolidating storage and network traffic onto a high-bandwidth 10 Gigabit Ethernet (GbE) fabric. The reduction in equipment and cabling provided by 10 GbE simplifies network management and maintenance, consumes less energy, and, from a customer perspective, enables faster cloud availability. Business & Decision Group is now consolidating its entire data center network to Intel® Ethernet 10 Gigabit Server Adapters.
“A simplified network reduces management complexity, while less cabling and fewer network adapters reduce the number of potential points of failure, helping to minimize maintenance and associated costs,” said Gerald Dulac, Green DC project manager for Business & Decision Group.
