The California Department of Water Resources needed to modernize its IT infrastructure. With help from Intel and other technology suppliers, the organization’s IT group designed and deployed a virtualized infrastructure based on HP ProLiant* server blades equipped with the Intel® Xeon® processor 5600 series. The overhaul consolidated operating costs by 25 percent and provided more than four times the capacity for new business solutions. Now the IT group has the flexibility and scalability to support an organization that’s changing and growing at top speed.
“By moving from an aging infrastructure to a virtualized environment with Intel processor-based systems, we are saving 25 percent in operating expenses,” said Tim Garza, chief information office for the California Natural Resources Agency. “We have significantly reduced our budget while enhancing our ability to provide IT services to our lines of business.”
